when am i again?
okay. have read lots, but haven't gotten to civil war yet. what i need to know is, what's going on now? in the comics. is there an avengers comic atm? what's tony doing? what happened after? can i get a quick summary? it'll lead to fic, hopefully...most likely, okay, yeah, i'm gonna write it.
and speaking of writing, anyone want a co-author? i miss writing with a partner.

There are currently two Avengers teams, but the lines between the two, which were super defined at one point (The Mighty Avengers are the gov't sanctioned team lead by Tony who are always trying to arrest the rouge, underground group lead by Luke Cage, the New Avengers) are starting to blur with Sekrit!Invasion going on, because pretty much all of the major MU heroes (except for the X-men, who are STILL dealing with post M-Day stuff) are fighting Skrulls, including Nick Fury and Thor, who were previously MIA/presumed dead before SI.
So basically things are fucked, Tony's a mess (he's just come off a virus eating up his tech and nearly getting his ass kicked by a mutated teenager) and Cap's still dead.
Tony had two ongoing series, Invincible Iron Man and Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. but the DoS series was just handed over to War Machine, so now he's just got Invincible Iron Man, which just finished up a 6 issue arc where he beat the aforementioned mutated teenager, Zeke Stane. There is an ongoing Captain America series that just finished Burbaker's huge ass 42 issue arc dealing with the death of Steve and the fallout/aftermath, but that's all about Bucky (with a side of Sam and the Black Widow and some random Carol), which is not a bad thing, but not really Steve related at all.
If you want happy, awesome, and made of sheer win, I'd suggest reading Marvel Adventures: Avengers, where the Avengers get along, everyone is friends, alive, and rockin', the villains are hysterically cool/bad and Steve and Tony go on dates and play basketball together. :)

And then Tony takes Invaders!Steve away from everybody and proceeds to angst about his Steve in front of Invaders!Steve which frankly is a little confused but seems to believe him.
Oh, the angst. No, seriously you should check it out.

Superheroes were happy (There's skrulls, but you dunno it!)
Civil War happens. Half of em don't mind the register. Half of em hate it. (There are still skrulls, but you dunno it!) There's a huge battle. Cap loses and Cap gets shot. Dead. Dammit. ;_;
Tony gets elected to become Director Of SHIELD. Plus he's still owns his company. Plus he's part of Mighty Avengers. Plus he's got Extremis. But he's emo, because of Cap is still not revived. *waits* And also because there are more people shooting at him and telling him it's all his fault. And yeah there's skrulls... but mainly because Cap is dead.
And for the future? Marvel is saying in their usual lovely way "It will get worse" *sigh*

Yeah, it gets worse

Weighs in
I don't want Tony going back to the bottle again. I know that he's probably eye balling Johnny Walker, but no.
Personally, I'm sitting out Secret Invasion, because I can't stand the Skrulls. They had an arc with them in the 90s, and this one seems similar to that one, sooo... *whistles*.
Marvel Adventures: Avengers and Marvel Adventures: Ironman are jolly fun. The art is crisp, the colours are bright, the stories are engaging, and there's no tortured story arc to follow. Tony Stark in MA:I is too cool! He's kinda like a mix of the the movie version (that sort of restless intellect, with the eye for shiny! things) and the old TOS version (good heart, loves his friends, loyal). I prefer the digests to the actual individual comic books, but I take what I get.
