Challenge: 2008 Elections

I've been thinking about this for the past week and since Obama did win the elections, I thought I might as well make a challenge to all the fic writers and artists on the com.

Since Cap once mentioned in a conversation with Spidey, that one of his greatest regrets from being frozen, was that he missed Jackie Robinson. I can't help but think of what his reaction would be to finding out about Barack Obama being voted president of the United States.

So the challenge is to write Cap's reaction to finding out about this, whether he returns before or after the inauguration and how Tony either tells him this, or shares the moment where he finds out about it.

Anyone willing to pick up the challenge?

That would be interesting, really! Is there a deadline? I'm tempted to write it myself. But... alas, I don't have Steve Rogers' voice as yet.

Avengers Classic 11, it was written by Tom Beland as a backup story for the issue.

I can try if you don't mind that for me it'd have to be Ultimate!Cap.
I'm still not up to writing 616 . . I don't think. Maybe this would break that ice . . no pun intended

Either would be fine for me. I just like the idea that someone like Cap who grew up in the first half of the century, got to live to see this happen.

We've actually had a lot of stories like that around here from Grandparents.

I know even people against the democrats politically were usually impressed with the symbolism of Obama running (it sucks that I have to say "usually" to that? Yes, yes it sucks.).

Oh I know, I've read several, which is a huge part of why I think it would be great to see such a look at history from Cap's pov.

Of course, right after I read the hyperlinktext, my immediate thought was: "...and now he died a mere year before Obama was elected".

I think it's a wholly different universe where Cap is though, where the President is likely more Thatcher than Bush.

She threatened to write the fic consisting of the words "Steve is dead" and I was egging her on.

Well, with the election I think I can assume that the news would stop talking endlessly about him, so if nothing else ghost!Cap would get a break...

And I lurve that issue like burning. *deep sigh*
