Author's Notes: As I obviously will never become pregnant, nor could I properly research contractions, any expecting or mother readers of mine, please do not be hesitant to inform me of any mistakes I made with contractions. Also remember guys, I'm doing NaNo, I touched up enough to make it post presentable, all feedback is welcome.

The first contraction barely hurts. It feels more like a light kick from the baby. The second one definitely packs more of a punch, knocking the wind out of him. The third one clues him in with a gasp and a flinch, a hand shooting up to press against his pregnant belly. The fourth one bends him over in half and all Tony wants to do then is curl up into a ball.
"Tony?!" Steve's by his side, somewhere between two and four, large and concerned hands holding him up and rubbing his back simultaneously. "What's wrong?"
Tony bows his head and grits his teeth, "Hurts." He gasps out again.
"Tony? Do the pains feel more like cramps or ripples?" Hank's calm voice is soothing amongst the chaos and Steve's comforting hands. He loves Steve, but Tony knows he's panicking internally and Tony definitely doesn't need anymore of that, he's panicking just fine by himself, thank you very much.
"Ripples."
"Oh. Okay." He doesn't miss Hank's sharp exhale and neither does Steve.
"What? What's the difference between cramps and ripples?!" Steve's demand is so pained, that Tony wishes he could give out some comfort of his own, but he's too busy trying to breathe.
"Cramps would have meant...difficulties."
"Difficulties!" Jan's panicking now too and sharp intakes of breath could be heard around the room.
"BUT ripples," Hank continues," are a good thing. It means he's going into labor."
"He's not due for at least another two weeks!" Steve is aghast and challenging, all at the same time. Tony loves it, him, but he's never carrying another baby. Ever.
"Actually, Steve, considering the extraodinary circumstances...I'm surprised Tony made it past his second trimster, let alone nearly a full term."
Tony would hit Hank if he wasn't in the middle of a contraction, so he settled for grabbing and squeezing his hand painfully.
Then there was a faint sound of skin hitting skin and a sharp, "Hank!" from Jan.
He makes a mental notation to so get that woman a pair of Tiffany earrings once he could get up long enough to make it to the Jewelry store.
He must have spaced out because all of a sudden Steve is counting,"1. 2. 3! And up you go." and they're moving. "Just keep breathing, in, out."
God, he hopes this only takes a few hours. He has an early evening Teleconference meeting and how is he suppose to cancel?
"Oh I'm sorry I couldn't make it, I went into premature labor." wouldn't exactly cut it, even with his German and Japanese shareholders.

"It's really not that bad, Tony." Steve says, firmly holding his band.
Tony highly doubts he'd feel the same way if he was the one laying on an infirmary bed after two hours of phantom labor.
The baby is fluttering, obviously amused at his expense.
She's mischievous and she hasn't even been born yet...
Peter is definitely coming off his potential Godfathers list, he'd only encourage her.

Oh I do remember. XD and I know that, but I automatically assume expecting moms are carrying females unless told otherwise, since it runs in my family a lot. And that just inspired a MOTH outtake, as you very well know. Devil Spawn. ;P

As for the "I've never done this, tell me if I'm doing something wrong" thing, the story works the way it is -- because, well, Tony is a special case anyways. We don't necessarily expect him to follow the female model. But if you wanted to know what false labor is actually like, the short version is here (http://www.pregnancytoday.com/reference/library/glossary.htm#bh), and the long version is here (http://www.pregnancytoday.com/articles/labor-preparation/braxton-who-4164/). I'll admit, the story is a little more amusing this way, because typical first (ie, actually leading up to birth) and false contractions aren't generally painful. Just annoying, and hard to tell apart. :) (Disclaimer: This is stuff I've read to prepare myself. So none of this is first-hand experience.)
