Of course, it's probably not Hawkeye, but a girl can dream :3

Black widow.. oy.

Oy. If they are going to follow Ultimates canon, I'm going to have to cut a bitch... and get the movie via torrent or bootleg.

But Communism is like, dead.

Dead as disco in Russia anyway. That's like, the height of some cold war. Which is why I thought that the Mandarin as the villain was inspired, what with America (Global superpower, white, and Western) against China (former superpower from centuries ago, up and coming now, Eastern and supposedly 'foreign'). Like, Stark vs Mandarin works so much on every level.

Re: Russia, they tend to go all Pallolium (sp) on people's arses, you know?

But I'm wondering if they'll straddle both the Ultimates and marvel 616, since The Ultimates were made for Marvel dilettantes, people who liked the movies but didn't want to go through tons of canon, which is why they have the trades out like woah.

The Ultimates novels aren't bad, really. It's amazing what a bit of sympathetic characterisation can do.

The books aren't that bad!

Yes, there are two - Tomorrow Men which takes place after Volume 1 and before volume 2 of the trades. Tony and Natasha are supposedly an item then and it's referred to in the first book.

The other book is Against all enemies which doesn't really draw on a book as much as it does The Ultimate Avengers animated feature length films (especially the first one). It helps if you know who the Chitauri are and what they are capable of.

But the books are decent. I like the second one because it's Tony and Steve all snarking at each other whenever they meet, or Fury busting everyone's chops. Clint is cold and brittle, and Steve is just trying to wrap his mind around his reality.

Really recommended.

You can read the novels on their own, but it's really recommended that you know some of the Ultimates universe and characterisations, even if it's just reading the wiki entry.

Dammit, why did I give up karate and only learn one foreign language? :(

I am also cursing my estranged love of martial arts. But I happen to speak a number of foreign languages ;D

I SHARE YOUR DREAM. It's probably not, but I can hope. :*(

Well, why would the first guy be Hawkeye? Is he Eastern European somewhere or something?

Hmmmmm

Wanda? Pietro? Is that you?

[identity profile] simmysim.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Could it be? I went away from them cause I thought there'd be some legal issues with the Magneto/X-Men/Wolverine movies they're gonna be in.

[identity profile] mechanicaljewel.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but I think the rights to them belong to Fox. Because on the Iron Man DVD, there's an interview with some comic book writer, and he's sitting in front of a glass case filled with statues of Marvel characters, and two are pixellated out, and they were very red and very blue blurs.

Huh. Never noticed that. Crazy movie shit.
