Right now, the Extremis is offline/fried and Tony can't access it, or use it to operate the armor designed to interact with it. I assume he downloaded the SHRA database into his noggin before this happened. The difficulty now is getting it out, because, well, the Extremis doesn't work anymore.
I think if Steve were around, he'd lend whatever support he could to get that database deleted, because 1)he always opposed it and 2)the theft of the database has made Tony a marked man. However, it's really not Steve's area of expertise. Maya Hansen invented Extremis... but I kinda hope Tony doesn't turn to her, because Maya is shockingly easy to buy or blackmail, and she'd probably sell him out.
With every man's hand against Tony it sure would be nice if Steve came back... Tony's outnumbered and seriously short of friends.
