I love your icon. I was going to make that an icon too, just haven't gotten around to it... even if Larroca's art makes me ill.

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well if you want, you can use this.

I wanted to play around with the art when I saw the issue and this is what I came up with after about 20 minutes. Re-inked and recoloured and with proper facial hair. Don't know if it's better or worse, but it's a little more typical.

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh you don't even know how much I love that. In fact, I think I might even have feelings for you! I am so using it, thank you!

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah thanks! You're making me blush. I was going to try and do a page or 2 but my tablet is on the fritz and then I got distracted. Ah well. I really liked this panel, but the line work and the colouring made me retch, so I just had to try and fix it.

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Well you did a fine job. You should be hired to fix all of Larroca's fugly Tony art.

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Individual areas aren't that bad, like the hand in the panel. But the colouring and linework are terrible, goes against everything I've learned in figure drawing classes, line quality matters. And he's going for realism rather then consistancy and style.

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I don't mind all of his stuff, it's just his Tony I'm not a fan of.

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Have any other panels you want to see retouched? I may have some time this week.

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I couldn't ask that! I'd feel like I was taking advantage.

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, I'm bored and I'll be doing art all week anyway, gives me something to work on when not doing actual work. And I'm home with the computure that has Photoshop so I want to take advantage.

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if it will help you be not bored...

I was a bit in love with this panel http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/thelouis/Iron%20Man%20and%20Cap/InvincibleIronManv508-023.jpg but again it was the art that killed me...

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
WEEEE

....And with text

Not quite as smug, but still hope I got the emotion across.

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
And love. That's it. I'm in love with you.

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
<3

[identity profile] prettyarbitrary.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Too bad having no consistency or style makes him fail at realism. :P

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I know, it's like the anti-style, it's got no stylization, but it's not great realism, making it a werid in-between thing.

But then again I just don't really like photorealism in comics, it is very rarely done well.

[identity profile] prettyarbitrary.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Ex Machina does it well, but then I hear they invest an awful lot of time into producing that comic, and I doubt it's realistic for most artists. And Adi Granov did a gorgeous job in the "Extremis" arc, but he took so long on it that IM slowed down to a bimonthly book while he was on it.

By and large, it just seems better to go with a more...well, comic-book style.

It's better

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm coming thisclose to dropping the comic because the art and the colouring make me ill. Ill. But then if something good happens, I don't want to buy the trades, because I'd hate to pay money for fug art. UGH.

Thanks

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's a problem. Read online and then get the book if it's good storywise?

[identity profile] prettyarbitrary.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
That? Is awesome. I loved that panel so much I was thinking of re-doing it myself.

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. Do it anyway if you have the time, I'd love to see it.

[identity profile] perrypadfoot.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Why does his art make you ill?

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I just don't care for how fugly he makes Tony.

[identity profile] perrypadfoot.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I like it. I think he looks kindof ragged and run-down.

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's cool. It's not event he raggedness, I don't mind that... I just think his face is a bit pudgier than I like it is all. But to each their own. I meant no offense to your taste. :)

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Me thinks Larroca's problem is that he adds lines in areas that make him look pudgy, rather then worn. Also his lines have no weight to them and it makes the lines on his face equal to the lines outlining him, making the ones on his face seem really deep. And the colouring only adds to it.

[identity profile] perrypadfoot.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, but I like the work none-the-less. Plus Pudgy!Tony is kinda cute!

[identity profile] the-oke.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve desperate - as in Tony getting awfully whumped/sick/hurt and Steve freaking out? *^.^* As long as you don't expect me to me medical or grammatically correct, I can offer you some short drama!hurt story =)

[identity profile] mizuko060.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
YESH! *nods* Go on, Steve.....faaaaaawn over your precious. ^^

I suppose we get a lot more canon examples of Tony being desperate...

However, desperate!Steve is certainly relevant to my interests. Can you elaborate further on what kind of desperation you're thinking of?

You've probably seen it already, but [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills's Context is Everything has Steve getting pretty desperate.

[identity profile] amf-wip.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Super-human stamina should do little in the face of Tony's expertise in certain "areas"... and no amount of super soldier serum should be defence against Tony's erotic aura. ;)

Bottom Steve would be a nice change too, don't you think?
