Appeal for Help.
Hi.
Some of you may have seen the post below mind (
asm_vs ). Basically I want to do the same for Captain America and Iron Man. Only problems are
A) I am new to LiveJournal and still learning how half this stuff works.
B) I'm British, so I only catch up with the cannon over the internet (and use strange spellings ect)
However as this is one of the biggest (and best) Captain America and Iron Man fan bases, here seemed a good place to ask for help.
I want to basically (as my Icon says) sort out the mess that is Marvel.
So, If anyone out there is interested, Please let me know.
I'm going to create a community in a minute, and I'll post the link here.
Edit: here's the new community

I hope many not-me people take you up on it, though, because I would love to read an alternative to current canon. People have seen me do fixit fic for CW already, but I'd love to read other people's fixit fic, because IMO current canon needs so much fixing that there's room for infinite takes on "Here's how Marvel could have been less stupid."

Spelling: the basic tool of the writer (and, by extension, LJ mod)
I doubt that you can pass off "cannon," "ect" and "vitural" as the British spellings of "canon," "etc." and "virtual." Not to mention "live Journal" for "LiveJournal."
Re: Spelling: the basic tool of the writer (and, by extension, LJ mod)
Ecclesiastes 1:9
Fan A posts something. Fan B picks at the spelling. Fan A plays the dyslexia card.
Then Fan C shows up to say that she (Fan C) is also dyslexic, and it's no excuse, because there are tools (such as spellchecker) to compensate for dysgraphia. Then Fan D shows up to say fandom is just for fun and people should be nice or STFU, with optional breaking of Snacky's Law. At this point, depending on the level of drama and whether or not people are sufficiently enraged/bored, the whole thing ends up on Fandom Wank.

I think it would be beneficial for anyone who considers themselves Steve and Tony fans (at the very least) to read up on their canon. Then, maybe, the ability can be gained to 'clean up' after Marvel. You can't change what you don't understand.
Just my opinion, though.

I'm up to date currently with canon, but I am prepared for that situation to change.

Instructions on renaming can be found in the LJ FAQ under How do I change my username?

It's all het and gen, sadly, and the writing isn't always as good as one could wish (I want to shake some of the fanboys involved and give them a lesson on the difference between simple past and past-perfect, and how to vary sentence structure so that not every single sentence is simple because Sometimes Subordinate Clauses Are Good, like, once a virtual issue) but it's an interesting look at a reasonably successful attempt to fix an entire comics universe.
What they did was essentially hand every major title to a fan or group of fans to write, as if they were running their own alternative fan version of DC comics (there's a monthly Superman story, a monthly Batman story, a monthy Teen Titan story, a JLA series, etc.). So the equivalent here would I think be having, maybe, Iron Man, Captain America, and Avengers titles that interlock the way they do in canon, written episodic-style like individual comic issues.
If
As for being caught up with current canon, I suggest picking a single point in canon and going AU from there, and just not worrying about what's on comic store shelves right now. Like, AU from the end of Civil War, or from World War Hulk, or Secret Invasion, or maybe from the same Brand New day/post-WWH point
Seriously, I do think it can be done, especially as a collaborative project. Resurrection-verse is basically an attempt to fix the entire Marvel U (at least, the non-X-people portions of it, because I'm not touching Messiah CompleX and all the other confusingness that surrounds it) and

I would recommend just making a new one with the corrected username, and maybe putting a link to the correct one in the userinfo of vituralavengers.
