Calling All People Who Have Some Free Time

Hey Fandom!

Okay, I was just wondering if any of you great and wonderful people who have some extra time to waste, could help me with updating the tags for the comm. :D That way everything is a lot easier to find!

Lan and I took over in December, so we've got Dec 2008, Jan 2009, Feb 2009, March 2009, and the future all covered.

But I'm just going to put up here the months that their entries still need tags added and updated, and then if any one can help, just pick a month and do it at your leisure (and then just let me know when you're done) :D

which month would you like? so we all aren't doing the same months? (you can start with one, and if others are left over and you have more free time you can do another)

Can members add tags, or mods only? Scanning through the tag list, and from what I remembering reading in the past couple months, it seems like we might need an ultimates tag? (and would universe: misc just be overkill?)

(fair warning: I nearly offered to tag someone's journal for them because it was inconsistent and driving me crazy)

only mods can add tags, at least for the time being

we do have an ultimates tag, in that we have a "universe: ultimate" tag-- does that work for you?

hmmm... i think we have a "genre: au" tag that kind of takes the place of a universe:misc tag, or maybe not. i should probably also turn this post into a "what other tags do you think we need?" post-- i'm gonna go add that

I think the tag page only lists the tags that have actually been used, so maybe that's why I didn't see the ultimates one when I checked.

on the misc thing, I think of AU genre as like... Tony is a WWII mechanic.

I'm not advocating for the misc tag, just thinking out loud. I don't suppose anyone would want to search for random universe mashups, and it seems like everyone is good about listing universes (or lack/combination thereof) in their headers anyway.

::nods:: yeah, i guess for fics that use a combo of two different universes (like ultimates/movie) just tag them for both universe: ultimate, and universe: movie?

2) there's a few posts *about* the archive, as opposed to posts of things that have been archived. They were random "this is what's happening with the archive today" things, so I don't think they need to be tagged to find again, but I wanted to mention it just in case.

another (general) question!

are there any tags that we don't want to use? there are a few that seem to have been abandoned, or may have been replaced by other things.

I went through the list and looked at what had been tagged with stuff I wasn't sure of.

intro - seems to be on people's first posts from time to time, but not consistently

nws - should we use this, or is rating sufficient? if used in conjunction with ratings, is it for nc-17, or some other standard (or whatever the author/artist claims)?

media - mostly on movie posts

pictures - screencaps and publicity pictures from the movie?

plot!bunny - should this be part of bunnyhutch now?

prompts - maybe with the plotbunny tag for people offering up ideas, maybe the prompts tag could be people for asking to be prompted?

shameless eye candy - just let people tag their own stuff if they want?

intro is for a person's first post, and really nothing else. if you come across a person's first post - where they're saying "hi!" feel free to use it, but really it's just up to the poster to use it i would think (i.e. don't really worry about that one)

i think that the nws tag is mostly for artists, because sometimes it's more difficult to rate a drawing as R or NC-17, or what have you. could be gore, or it could just be guys kissing... either may not be worksafe- so i leave it up to you and the artists to decide on when to use it

media = any video or random song (lyrics or youtube video) that isn't a fan!vid -- so like videos to "itsjustsomerandomguy's marvel vs dc" is "media" as is a song that reminded people of steve/tony so they wanted to post it

pictures = yeah, this one goes hand in hand with fun misc stuff, because there were a couple of posts that had pictures, as in pictures of real life things happening to comm members and not so much the comics. for the iron man movie pictures, i would say go with movie: iron man. (i'll delete the other tags that don't belong)

plot!bunny should be part of the bunny hutch now. i'll delete the plot!bunny tag.

yeah, sorry if there was a mix up- prompts are for people ASKING to be prompted. if they're giving a prompt (that isn't just a random plot bunny, which will now go under bunnyhutch) then it's a challenge

Shameless eye candy is pretty much just a joke. people can add it or not add it. you can add it too- it's not for fanart or fanfic, but... it's just for fun :P
