Fic: 15 Minute Sketch (1/1)
Title: 15 Minute Sketch
Author: sdblaine
Rating: G
Word count: 575
Beta: Nope
Summery: Steve wants Tony to sit for a fifteen minute sketch and Tony agrees reluctantly.
Set in the 616 verse before Extremis entered the picture. Because otherwise, Tony would just do paperwork in his brain.
"You're not serious."
"I am."
"You can't be."
"And that would be because...?"
"I'm just not the type of person you'd-"
"It's just a sketch Tony! It'll take 15 minutes tops. You can ever watch tv just like you were planning to."
"Have you asked everyone else?"
"Yes. And they all sat through the agonizing 15 minutes of jaw dropping boredom."
"... even Parker?"
"Even Peter."
A long pause and then, "Logan?"
"Yes!" Though Steve had been forced to bribe him with a box of hugely overpriced smelly cigars which he wasn't going to mention to Tony anytime soon.
"So, are you going to agree to sit for me or are we going to argue about this in the time it would have taken me to set up, do the darned sketch, and leave you in peace?" Both men are standing two feet apart, face to face, and glaring at each other. The air crackles for one beat, two, three- before Tony finally turns his head and sighs. Loudly.
"Fine."
"Thank you." Steve grabs his sketch pad and the battered box full of charcoals, pencils, and erasers from the counter behind him before turning around. Tony is standing in exactly the same spot.
"You going to sit down?"
Tony raises an eyebrow. "Wasn't sure where you'd want me, Leonardo."
"Anywhere's fine."
"Sure thing, Cap."
Tony walks to one of the Towers long couches and flops down onto it. He ends up sprawled with his feet on a glass topped coffee table and his face resting on his palm leaning disgruntdly on the arm of the coach. Steve takes a seat across from him on the floor and gets settled before flipping to a clean page and picking up a pencil. He looks at his pad, Tony, and his right foot before rolling his eyes and pushing a hand through is hair. "Tony, unless you want anyone that looks at this thing to think you had gas while I was drawing you, could you at least try to look a little happier?"
"Nag nag nag."
"You're just making this harder then it has to be, Tony."
"You might have a point. Plus, if it's truly terrible then Pepper will feel the need to kick me in the shins again for making her job harder."
"It's not going to look terrible. Just don't frown and I'll be out of your way in a few minutes."
The room goes quiet except for the soft scratching of pencil on paper pausing and starting as Steve puts down the first lines.
"What are you going to do with all these sketches?"
"Not sure yet. Maybe finish some and give them away as gifts. Possibly use a few as references for a larger piece to donate to a charity."
"Always the good Samaritan, eh?"
"I just like giving back. It's the least I can do."
"When you're not running around as Captain America and saving the world, apparently." Tony's suprized to realize that he's forgotten about being anoyed with Steve. Suddenly a question pops into his head and is out of his mouth before he can think better of it. "What do you do with the stuff you don't give away?"
Steve looks up from his drawing. "Usually I just recycle the paper or they just lie around in piles on my work table till I can be bothered to box them up and put them in storage." He shrugs and picks up a kneadable eraser
"You could always ask Jarvis to do that for you."
"Nah, its kind of fun to look through everything before I put it away to be honest. And I'm sure he has better thing to do then pick up after me."
"Like making disproving faces at the state of my garage."
Steve smiles. "Exactly."

Awww, peeps are silly like that. That's why I just take lot's of sneak attak photos to use as references. But MAN, modeling is harder then it looks. Unless they let you fall asleep, but that doesn't happen often.

And yup! I kindof did something similar (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/SM3i90L/Sketch/0209_film03.jpg) during class last month, but uhh proportions/placement/badpaper/et cetera, your fic gives me an excellent excuse to try again. :>

And so is your other stuff! -flails-
Pshwa, silly majors and people wanting you to stick to actually stick to one. I was going for Art History before I took and abandoned that sinking ship.
So glad to have tickled your creative fancy :D

Heh, yeah! I was Computer Animation, I've dabbled in the Illustration department, and right now I'm Graphic Design. We'll see where that goes. Ah, history, I know someone else who swapped out of that too.
I'm uhh, glad to be tickled! (Oh and I'm shooting for Friday since I usually fail at doing homework on Fridays.)

It's so awesome IMHO that Steve is an artist and I love fics that reference it, and this is just perfect *LOL*
I relate so much to it, and the exchanges between Steve and Tony were perfect. I could hear them in my head ^__^
. . . without it being a symptom of mental illness *L*
Really nice little slice of life fic.

And yay, I haven't written anything just for fun in forever so I'm glad the dialogue didn't throw people off. I thought there was to much at first but, I guess not. Sweet~
... and since all I've been written down snippets of pretend Avenger conversations all day I think your sanity's safe ^_~ b

I love Steve's snark at Tony here ^_^ (I wonder if Tony would be more ammenable to modeling if Steve asked him to do it naked).
