Written for Spring Challenge prompt: "Lost puppy/ or kitten rabbit whatever cute cuddly animal floats your boat." Though, uhm... maybe cute and cuddly isn't exactly the right word.
"I can't believe we're doing this," Tony muttered as he got down on all fours to peek under the sofa.
"We're Avengers," Steve said staunchly. "We do what needs to be done." He pulled the TV stand away from the wall and poked at the tangle of wires behind it.
"Yes, but does this actually need to be done?" Tony scooted toward the coffee table. Nope, not there either. "Can't we just let the damn thing stay lost?"
"Tony--"
"I mean, it's one thing for you to go around rescuing kittens from trees all the time--"
"It was only that one kitten that one time. Anyhow, just because Chauncey isn't cute and fluffy doesn't make him any less of a pet."
"Chauncey?" Tony sat back on his heels and stared up at Steve with a stupefied expression. "You know its name?"
"Hank told me. He's very upset, by the way."
"Oh, come on." Tony rolled his eyes. "He's got ten thousand more."
"That's not the point."
"No? What's the point, then?"
"The point is, do you want to wake up in the night with that thing crawling up your leg?"
"Good point." Tony looked under the sofa again.

And: "It was only one kitten! It doesn't indicate a pattern of kitten-rescuing!" Suuuuure, Steve.

"Steve, did you fill the Jacuzzi with baby ducks again?"
"But Tony, they need our help. It's the right thing to do."
"Why does doing the right thing always end up with me taking showers in the lab?"

I'm 90% sure that's the right issue, but let me know if you open it and it isn't about Hank. :-)

This is great! I love pithy little bits of cute. Except now I'm thinking of a million different inconvenient places Chauncey could hide. Like inside the armor, and Tony only discovers it AFTER he's set out to fight the villain of the day.

I started smiling at the kitten-rescuing banter, but this bit, with the reveal that the "pet" they're looking for is *one of Hank's ants* made me grin like a loon. (And I wouldn't want to make up with 'Chauncey' crawing on me, either).
