“The bench is built from the ruins of an old fertility temple.” Strange frowned and opened his eyes. “It has latched onto the child; I can dispel the magics, but not unless she leaves the seat willingly.”

“C’mon, kid. I’ll buy you some ice cream.”

“No!”

Tony turned to stare at the scene. On top of the bench sat a little girl, clutching a picture book in one hand and a stick in the other. Two kittens, until recently human, sat in her lap. Logan was attempting to coax the girl out of her seat.

“I’ll get you…uh…pizza and ice cream.”

No! I want my mommy!” One of the kittens started to meow.

Logan growled. “Kid, your mommy’s not here right now. What else do you want?”

The little girl screwed up her face in thought, then pointed the stick at Logan with a grin.

”Bunny!”

“Ohfu-“

Steve turned, adjusting the sleeping girl on his shoulder. “Iron Man, will you get Wolverine?”

Tony picked up the kicking, struggling rabbit. It had tousled black fur and long incisors.

“You know, I hear Peter needs a new classroom pet.”

Logan flicked his ears and made a spirited attempt to bite Tony’s thumb.
