Art: G, Never Do That Again
Title Never do that again
Artist Ani_Bester
Rating G
Characters Tony Stark and James Barnes
Media Watercolor and India Ink on sketch book paper
Notes This is an illustration from
pandanoai's and
kijikun's fic "Storybook." It's based on a scene from the end of chapter 3, and I just *adored* it. It made me laugh out loud, and I had to draw it. I've actually been sitting on the sketch for a long while and finally got a chance to finish painting it.

Tony barely smirked. "I won't say I told you so since you saved my life."
"Gee willikers, thanks Mr. Stark," James said brightly.
Tony turned his head and gave James a horrified look. "That was creepy. Never do that again."

This is fabulous :D :D This really made my day! I love James and Tony's outfits and the hand gesture of James, and Tony's irked expression XD priceless.
And the watercolors just add to the surreal fairytale feel!! It's wonderful!
Thank you so much! *glomps you*

TOny's expression was pretty easy *L* He does horrified and distrubed well. James's was harder because it was hard to convey they cute + teasing thing, and really it needed to be animated.
But that is a bit beyond me.
. . . I would so animate this fic though if I could *.*

It's my fun style. I enjoy being loose and gestural with watercolors, rather than more rpecise, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Luckily for a fairy tale type story I think it worked well ^__^
And thanks for the comment on the expressions. James's was pretty hard for me to get =P

And yay! OMG Bucky's expression was so hard to get because it was just this split moment that I had to hang between innocent kid and snarky adult. It was hard. Thank god for lightboxes, because the original sketch is erased so much in the area the color would have looked funky on his face *L*

Heh, the color work is all crayoloa watercolors actually. I find for something the super vibrant/unreal colors work really well. And they mix interestingly on sketch paper, in a different way from my professional set.

the whole pic has a nice fairytale-ish feeling to it, very dream-like

I'm glad I got the fairy-tale look going with the style. It is my favorite style, but doesn't work for everything (crayola watercolors btw = made of awesome for things like this because the colors are just overly vibrant and unreal *L*)
