San Diego Comic Con!

Out of curiosity, how many people are planning on going? We're hoping to get a meet-up set up.

Also anyone planning on going to the Slashers Dinner this year?

This is my first SDCC and I've never heard of the Slashers Dinner, but it sounds awesome! I will definitely see if I can make it.

Oh, one of these days when I have a real job, I'd love to go to the San Diego Con!

In the mean time I go to the Canadian National Comic Con here on TO. Anybody going to that this year? ^_^

Yep! Various little, and I do mean little, ones peppered throughout the year, but the big one is usually the last weekend in August.

Really it's hardly fair to even compare it to a con like San Diego. The "Fan Expo Canada" is a conglomeration exhibition of somewhat inter mingling hobbies. Comics, Anime/Manga, Gaming, Horror, and Sci-Fi. They do try to get some noteworthy guests every year and tend to succeed. Worth checking out though, it's not a very expensive ticket or anything. :)

Isn't that the con that the one year the guests of honour were William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy? I remember it was huge news when they were in town, and it was at kind of a multi-con.

That would be awesome to go to, but this year I've had to say no to cons. I'm trying to save up for San Diego Comic Con next summer and the Harry Potter Con in Orlando in 2010 (amusement park, yay!). AND (hopefully) go back to Anime North. That was a blast too.

No worries. :) That's why we're going to try and have a meetup a another time. So people that can't do the slashers dinner can meet other Steve/Tony fen. I'm thinking a good plan is to start the meet up at the Iron Man panel. We can all figure stuff out when the programing schedule goes up. ^_^

RDJ is supposed to be there. I'm hoping they might have a Thor panel as well. The best thing ever would be a Captain America panel would be the best thing ever.

I figure they're going to have the Iron Man one in one of the big rooms, so its going to be a case of either showing up really early if it's first thing in the morning or sitting through other panels to get good seats. But it's always more fun to do those things with a group.

And dude, I'll be there extraordinarily early (I live in San Diego and I have to get up with my bro to drive to the Convention Center and get Convention parking). Oh, didn't think I was going to be in a line this year but this will be worth it. ^__^ I always make it a rule to get in several panels ahead of my targeted event. ~_~

And hee, groups always make the line ride/wait worth it!

I will be armed with my DS, comics, and munchies. I hope if RDJ does a signing its not one of those 'drawing' ones. I never get the right ticket for those. It's a bit easier getting spots for the signing down on the exhibit hall floor.

I know for sure that ani_bester, elly_in_ink, and panda will be there.

You know, I don't even bother any more for the movie actors. For RDJ, without a doubt, he'll be one of the people you'd need to do a drawing for. !_! I usually get my signing quota filled by all the authors that pass through the convention.

As for the line, dude, DS is a must! We can try pictochatting but last time I tried that with my peeps, random strangers kept trying to join our room. *sweatdrop* Do not want, no offense, strangers.

And I'm just excited that I'm going to be meeting people from here over there (if that made any kind of sense whatsoever)!
