This issue was actually pretty good, a lot of fun. Dmitri is worth at least a glance through. It wasn't too much like OMGKGJDKF;GJH;FGJK stuff this issue.

Yes, that is my image of Quesada because all he cares about at Marvel is Spider-Man and making everyone Apes or Zombies...

There were only two things in this issue that struck me as crushingly stupid: 1) Maria, how was it better to paint a spider on her door and hang about with painty hands? Is that somehow more subtle than knocking?
2) Madam Masque, given that Tony is wearing Crimson Dynamo's armour, logic should tell you he's got a friend other than Pepper.

That is a massive improvement. This issue actually sounded like fun! Thanks for recapping. :)

1)Me thinks the paint thing is so Widow can't turn her away. Like you could say no, but I'll mess up your life. That and Hill may actually be cracking :P

Yeah the issue was a lot of fun this time. It was very back to basics and less of the shock value. Believe it or not, the art is improving also... not by much mind you.. but subtle moments.

1) Maria Hill is losing her damn mind, so I think she's passed subtle.
2) Yeah, Madame Masque doesn't really know this, but Fraction means last friend in that someone like Dmitri will not wipe up Tony's drool when his brain is deleted...

...maybe he'll throw him in a volcano! ;)

Tony's conversation with Dmitri was the best thing ever. Though Pepper and Jarvis come pretty close. I'm hoping next month we'll get some good Maria-Natasha snark.

Really, this whole storyline could be so good IF ONLY THE PLOT MADE ANY SORT OF SENSE!!!

The plot is kind of starting to make sense? I don't know I feel bad for Fraction a little because they were like "Oh yeah, we gave you this cool Iron Man book but now we're going to DESTROY TONY STARK can you write that? Kthnxby" and then Quesada went back to munching on cheeseburgers.

Though Fraction said this plot is what got him the job, I'm pretty sure based on how pretty good this one was, the home stretch might make this whole thing worth it.

If Fraction pulls some sort of clever rabbit out of a hat with this whole brain-deleting thing, it'll definitely be worth it. There's been lots of stuff in the book I really like, mostly in the character interactions. But I get the sense that Fraction just doesn't know how to make the whole Dark Reign thing work. (To be fair, nobody else at Marvel seems to know either.)

I think that maybe Norman Osborn was the wrong choice to sort of helm the thing. Like I know he has the thunderbolts and all, but I still wonder how he even got to power, even as I reread everything leading up to it. I think that's the fundamental flaw in the Dark Reign for me and Fraction is doing the best he can with what he got.

It's not just Osborn, the whole thing doesn't hang together. Marvel seems to want to do this dystopian, totalitarion vision of the US, but they have no clue how it would work in terms of internal politics, or international relations, or economics, or anything. What's HAMMER's actual jurisdiction? How are they funded? Does Fraction, or anyone else at Marvel, have any clue what a billion dollars in gold actually means? The whole thing is just such a mess.

Actually, one of my favorite bits in this issue was Osborn having to ask Dmitri for permission to enter Russian airspace and Dmitri telling him to fuck off. Actual acknowledgment that Osborne hasn't been made Supreme Dictator of the Universe! Yay!

I don't know if it is the art (I think it is the art) or the plot (Exciting, yes, but I can't read a number without returning to my collection of Marvel Adventures) but it just makes me feel baaad.

Anyway...Anyway what? I just forgot what I was about to write.
