Yes, but the writers of A/I also think Bucky would listen and obey Tony *LOL* Sorry I have issues with A/I =P
I think maybe Brubaker made it sound as though Steve had always been from Brooklyn, when really he moved there as an adult, but a lot of writers seem to be deferring to Brubaker *shrugs*
Steve is from the Lower east Side, because that's where Jack Kirby grew up. I don't know where the Brooklyn thing comes from (unless it's that he has an apartment in Dumbo in the beginning of Brubaker's run, albeit a strangely uninhabited version of Dumbo. Brubaker actually has him getting an apartment there because there will be no innocent bystanders around to get hurt if some villain or other comes after him *headdesk* Sure, Ed. His appartment at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, across from the nationally renown Jacques Torres chocolate store, next to a public park, will be totally remote and free from hordes of random tourists taking pictures of the Manhattan skyline. If you really believe that, there's a major city landmark visible from Steve's windows that I'd like to try and sell you).
The ironic thing is, Steve would actually love living there. He would totally pose for pictures with school children from out-of-state whose teachers/parents would assume he was some kind of tourguide in costume or something (because Steve can probably rattle off historical information about the Brooklyn Bridge at the drop of a hat, being the American history geek he is).

It's totally wrong. He's not a teen (okay he's 19 whatever)there. That's from the Captain America 70th anniversary comic and he's in a super secret hiding place and ARGGHHH Why that picture *wibble*
If I may throw in a rec, caudecus03 has written real!verse of precisely that thing (well, less of the fighting crime, admittedly), and it is stellar. Link over yar (http://caduceus03.livejournal.com/tag/real-verse).
I love that series to pieces. I have the sneaking suspicion that if I gave it a whirl, it would read way more like a romance novel and much less like real life.
Sadly no, ganked it from scans_daily post and uploaded it to my scrapbook. I know a lot of people here won't go over to s_d so I thought I'd make sure they saw it.
But I got stuck when Steve says this: "What a swell deal-- This new Marvel publication is full of stories with men in action. It's very inspiring to me!" and I started laughing...
I think my brain has regressed to that of a 12 year old's... I blame stress. lol
but also a hamburger or twenty. All I can see in that picture are his cheekbones- every nurturing instinct in my body is screaming at me to go roast him a chicken. Poor kid.

The whole thing is kind of adorable!
I had Steve as being from the Lower East Side... was that not right? Where did Brooklyn come from?

616 Steve moves to Brooklyn, but I can't find anything out of hand that places him there pre-ice.
Wiki says born in Lower East but maybe Brubaker retconned? .

Avengers/Invaders #2, he makes a comment, while in Brooklyn, about it being the neighbourhood he grew up in.
Well... snap.
Whatever, it's an AU.
