Brain Delete

Just a little discussion of sorts, because I want to know what do you think about my "theory"

Tony is erasing his brain, yes, we know that.

However I don't really think he will end up stupid, you know? Because it would happen as in a computer (After all the guy has Extremis).

When you just wipe out all the information, the data is gone, but the whole system is still there.

So, my conclussion.

Tony may be wiping out his mind, but the genious and everything that allowed him to do what he did is still there, he just needs to re-learn it.

Like some sort of amnesia or something.

Right?

Am I crazy or Am I right?

PLEASE FORGIVE MY GRAMMAR!
I'm learning Italian and I think my english doesn't like it at all.

I think the basics of Tony-ness would be there--his soul for lack of a more scientific word--but I think he's going to have to re-learn everything from the ground up again, possibly even walking and speech. This is assuming that the brain-delete doesn't cover automatic reflexes like breathing and whatnot too. We really have almost no idea exactly how it works, but the fact that he seems to be forgetting things that are intuitive doesn't bode well. :\ I'm kind of hoping that they'll do something interesting with it, like a re-install of a back-up brain or even an over-write with a new memory.

One of the things I try to remember about computers is that it's hard to outright delete anything permanently. It has to be over-written, and even then there's a chance some of it's retrievable (with difficulty) if you don't overwrite it all (unless it's been physically damaged to a huge extent, such as a volcano). Of course, I'm sure Tony knows that and can do it, but I retain hope for some reason.

Tony did say he'll eventually stop breathing didn't he? As he listed the symptoms of brain delete, little functions like breathing would stop.

He might be salvageable if they stop before his motor functions and such begin to fade (aren't his reflexes going?). Though I'm wondering if his organs and kidneys and the like are unaffected.

Did he? I've been avoiding spending money on current continuity (to express my displeasure with the painingful ways of it). I was just guessing lol. (feels special) Maybe it's analogous to deleting the drivers, OS and whatnot? The hardware is still there, but it's a useless chunk of parts. Which is fine for a computer, but Tony will be a little harder to reinstall software to.

He seems to be regressing, though I could be mistaken. If that's the case, then automatic functions should go last. If we do have to deal with organ failure, I hope it'll come after the "Tony" part has been deleted, just for his sake. Plus, it would no doubt be much more dramatic and angsty, which I'm sure Marvel will love.

(I downloaded it), Okay looked it up and what he did say it would go data/secrets->memories->personality->neural pathways and reflexes will be wiped and blanked, then ending in brain death.

(I need to.) He's on step two then, since his memories are going right now. STILL TIME TO BE SAVED. D: Poor Tony. I really, really hope he has something planned to save himself (though this being Tony...), because otherwise this is just a form of self-flagellation. Suicide-by-volcano would have been much better. Of course, I could be biased because that sort of thing is one of my personal nightmares.

(I don't even do that anymore) His reflexes are going a bit, going from some dialog with the Crimson Dynamo, and he was still OKish at that time.

I think Tony might have one more trick left and then plans on going out :( It seems like he's giving the means to safe him to other people and let them decide, if getting Hill to get that flashdrive to Cap is something that can help him.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-09-05 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
That could be part of his memories going--learned reflexes rather than natural ones--but somehow I doubt Marvel thought that deeply. :(

That... is a very Tony-ish thing to do, actually. He'd fully expect that everyone would realize how much better off the are without him and therefore not do whatever needs to be done to save him. Does he even know Cap is coming back, I wonder? Or does he even remember Cap? ;o;

Me and truthiness_aura discussed this over here

http://simmysim.livejournal.com/591504.html?thread=6750352#t6750352

along with the preview page. It seems either a)He's forgotten Cap is dead or b)plans on seeing him on the other side DDD:

He's not part of the taskforce trying to get Cap back from what I hear, so it's just like that fic you wrote me, the way things are going. They are just going to miss each other.

D: D: D: D: D: x 1 billion

I'd forgotten about that comment! I hope he's just forgotten, because Tony being Tony, I doubt he's expecting good things if he sees Cap after death.

Maybe I should start writing happy fluffy "Tony survives and Cap comes back and everything is all better WITH SHOUJO SPARKLES" stories to nudge Marvel in the right direction. ;o; Tony can't die. (Except for that part where Marvel seems to disagree with me on that.)

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-09-05 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
WRITE IT. Or write, Cap comes back, things suck and he misses, Tony also comes back and awesome and sparkles are had by all. And hot makeouts.

Fluff is needed in the fandom, yes indeed.

I SHOULD. Something. They need mindless fluff like YESTERDAY. ;o;

I don't know. It kinda seems to me like the reason for the loss of intelligence is because he's damaging brain cells in the deletion process. I could see it if Extremis' healing factor is working, since it has fixed brain damage before.
Though personally, I have been convinced that Tony has something up his sleeve ever since the 'not that bad yet' line with Dmitri. It seems to imply that he needs to stay alive for something.
