Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 17th January 2010

Hi all! Some of you may remember there used to be a weekly news post for Cap_Ironman. Well, now there is again, and this is it. The newsletter will have a round-up of the week's posts, any announcements or interesting links we have, and links to our rules and so on. If you have something you'd like to get a mention in the newsletter, drop a mod a line.

It seems to be Big Bang season! There's a [livejournal.com profile] comicsbigbang signing up for artists and authors, with a minimum fic length of 10,000 words; there's also an [livejournal.com profile] au_bigbang, with a minimum fic length of 15,000 words. I know many of our authors adore a good AU. So check them out! And there's a fic exchange for Marvel comics over at [livejournal.com profile] merry_marvels

A round-up of the works posted to the comm this week:

So this week, [livejournal.com profile] theplotmaster posted a vid - there's few vids for this pairing, so take a look.

[livejournal.com profile] strzyga posted a fic where Steve and Tony meet after Steve's revival - read the warnings if you're spoiler-conscious!

[livejournal.com profile] otherhazards posted Part 3 of their ongoing fic Juke Box Heroes.

And I posted here about the [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti, including a round-up of all the Marvel items for offer I could find in art and fic.

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments. If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. if you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me, [livejournal.com profile] muccamukk, or [livejournal.com profile] garrideb.

Tales of Suspense has a slightly different warning system from the comm, just FYI. (Warning for major character death and on-screen rape is mandatory, everything else is optional, and there's an "unspecified warning - not rape or death" tag for fics that have something the author feels is warnings-worthy that isn't covered by the tags, or for people who want to indicate potentially disturbing content without spoilers).

And if anyone wants additional warning tags or has suggestions about improving the current ones, they can email the tag-wrangling mod at lowryer@gmail.com.

You're right -- that ,might be a good idea. ToS has warning tags for dub-con, suicide, and torture/explicit violence (and eating disorders), but they haven't been mandatory thus far.

I'll add an underage sex tag and see if there's a way to insert a "these things are mandatory" note into the story upload page (right now, the fact that the "choose not to warn/unspecified warning" option specifically included a "and there is no rape or death" was kind of standing in for a this-is-mandatory statement).

edit: "underage sex" tag has been added.
