In comic news, the debate continues as to the Cap's politics, and Marvel has announced a couple of new team books (Siege #2 spoilers in that link). Though there's no official word yet as to what Steve will be doing post-Siege. He's not on any main-universe solicits for May, though he does seem to be quite active in Ults. ETA: Oh, yeah, and this Iron Man/Captain America Team Up TPB seems relevant to our interests -g-

I'm not sure at all how to feel about that interview. I think they're right about Norman but the other one... I don't know. Not one of the main three, I hope, and I would really like it not to be Clint.

But it sounds like they're moving back toward classic Avengers-ness and that's always a good thing. Well, except Brubaker writing Avengers but it can't all be good news.

Bendis is writing Avengers, a book with Bucky, Clint, Tony, Thor/Don, Jess Drew for sure, and I think Peter, Logan and Luke. (so they're all safe)

Natasha has her own ongoing starting April, so she's safe. I've seen Bobbi, Moonstone and Hank Pym in May solicits, so they're safe.

Brubaker is writing something called Secret Avengers, which is, it seems, so secret we don't get to know who's on the team.

If the team up trade is about their bffness than why is Tony beating the crap out of Steve on their cover art image? LOL... Marvel.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting their Red Zone liplock or anything, but using the Civil War pic when there isn't even any Civil War stuff in there... (I mean, they could have included Casualties of War.)

It's not like there aren't plenty of pictures of them getting on. Oh Marvel. STILL perhaps this release is an indication they are going back to them being friends.

I wasn't either, but let us all pause to imagine how awesome that would be. In fact, I may just print that off and paste it into my cover.

Really, sometimes I wonder what the artist felt like. "So you want... a full page devoted to Tony putting his mouth on Steve's, with at least one extreme close-up of their lips, and Sam being all 0_0? Really?"

I might get a nice printout of the hug'n'fly and re-cover my trade with it. Much more appropriate.

I suppose we can take the TPB as an indication that they realize Cap & Tony weren't always made of grrr-face and thirteen year old hissy fits? *sigh* At this point, it looks like I'm probably going to be visiting de Nile for the next year or so.

Oh, they so were. They fought like little girls over the last sparkly unicorn hairclip. They just used to make up with lip trembling sincerity and cries of "No, no, I was a big meanyhead and I'm sorry and I don't deserve you!"

... Now I want to see this issue, complete with conciliatory sharing of dollies. Will there be a big blue moose?

Oh, sure. Set it while Beast is on the Avengers. Tony tells Jan she has cooties until she flouces out. Vision thinks he's an appliance and keeps trying to stick pieces of bread and DVDs and dirty laundry and microwave dinners into his person. Jan puts ribbons and glitter on Beast until he snaps and goes feral. Steve and Tony fight over something petty, and Tony declares he's taking his toys and going home, and as he owns the place, that means everyone else has to get out of HIS house. Steve flounces into the garden and sulks. Tony plays Big Game Hunter round the house with Beast until he starts missing Steve, who is lurking in the rhododendrons pouting.

And Steve and Tony can make up when Tony offers his favorite rocket powered roller skates, and there is adorable scuffing of shoes? Then they go off to hunt Moose together, no doubt destroying half the house in the process. Or they can make a Fort. Forts are fun!

Poor Beast. Being driven feral by Jan might not be solved with string this time.

You know that's pretty much exactly a description of what happened in Avengers Vol 1 168-170, right? For real.
