For trade collectors

Apparently Amazon is selling off Marvel trades and omnibuses for a fraction of what they usually are.

Books not out yet and ones that are valued at around $75 are all going for $14.99 or less a piece.

They've got Civil war stuff, Iron Man stuff, Captain America, Ultimates, Avengers Disassembled and so on.

They're apparently clearing stock so once things have sold out their gone.

EDIT Annnd it seems like it's all done now. Hope you ordered them because they're back up in price. From what I hear your prices are still the same if you ordered, but maybe it was a glitch? Or a 1 hour sale or something.

So what did everyone get?

EDIT AGAIN- Looks like Amazon is just canceling orders because it was a glitch D: Sad Pandas all around

Doesn't seem so... but terrifyingly, this stuff seems cheaper even including shipping.

I bought two books (that's all I can afford)

I bought... some... uh... I checked everything on Amazon.co.uk and it was all cheaper even with shipping. In the case of the omnibuses, considerably. Still couldn't force myself to buy the Death of Captain America omnibus, even for eight dollars.

...in other news, there's going to be a new release of Red Zone! And something called Avengers: Standoff which I have never heard of before but is about Thor answering the prayers of worshippers of his who live in a dictatorship, Iron Man trying to stop him, and Cap trying to referee! And and actual book called Iron Man/Captain America. Like, the book is titled that. Wow.

A new release of Red Zone *squee*

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice! So will we get that here, then? Or should I just buy that in the US, too. How much is shipping (on average) I've people in the states I can beg to pop in the post for me, but how much is it on average?

Preorder details on amazon.co.uk say about £15; you can preorder for $15 from .com, but with shipping, might as well just wait.

Shipping seems to be almost half of cost if you buy a few. No idea is it could be done cheaper; the omnibuses are pretty heavy. I don't think there'll be duty to pay, as they're books.

Oooh, I love that storyline. That's the one where you find out that Thor's hammer is one of the few things capable of denting Steve's shield, and that Tony's voice was the first thing Steve heard when he woke up from the ice.

Apparently, the Iron Man/Captain America book is going to have a reprint of the "azure eyes" comic in it, among other things. I am trying to think of any way someone could decide that that issue belong among a compilation of vital moments in Steve and Tony's friendship that doesn't involve a deeply felt conviction on the compiler's part that they're gay for each other, and failing.

Given the title is basically the ship name? I'm finding it hard to believe anything else.

seanchai's reaction when she heard about it was "So, who on the comm got a job at Marvel and didn't tell us? Because this TPB pretty much solely exists to promote out ship."

US based Amazon only. BUT! you cans till order and have it shipped to you, and still save a boatload.

And if you're super lucky, you haven't used your premium service thingy trial yet. so free shipping! :3

ono spending all my money.

[identity profile] epictastic.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
...is it bad that the primary outcome of this is going to be me having source material to finally write slashfic with? probably not?

[identity profile] epictastic.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. XD

[identity profile] zoie-may.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much for posting, even if I can only buy two.

[identity profile] x-kchan-x.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
WHELP. There goes all my money.

Hilariously enough though, I ended up buying more DC stuff than Marvel. The DC trades do seem to be on sale-ish. Not in the same way as the Marvel ones, but still, good enough for me.

Thanks for posting this! Even if my credit card is crying now. Haha.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
D: I had to edit my cart so much, and I still spent more than I really should have.

But but but how could I pass that up? D: Couldn't make myself buy anything in current continuity though. *sigh* One of these days, my wallet will face the pain of Civil War and its aftermath. Not today. (Why should I buy things it hurts too much to read?)

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot cheaper! I got a few things I never would have bought at normal prices. AND MARVEL ADVENTURES, because they need love and I need lols.

I just wish current 616 wasn't so painful. It would have made choosing harder, but in a good way!

[personal profile] valtyr 2010-03-07 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you get Hypervelocity? It was very cheap.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Yes I did. It's just about the only thing Tony I did get. Now I have to wait for it to arrive! D:

[personal profile] valtyr 2010-03-07 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's hope they honour the low prices, seems like it was a glitch!

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
If they don't, they have to give us a chance to cancel. At least, I'm pretty sure they do. So the worst that will happen is a great outcry of "woooooooe SADPANDA" and disappointment.

[identity profile] epictastic.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I will be SUCH A SADPANDA.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
SO WILL WE ALL! D: (clutches her new shinies)

My sadpanda will be epic!

[identity profile] epictastic.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It looks like the prices are back to normal. Or a lot of them, anyway. o3o

RE the ETA

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I got MA Avengers TBP 3-6, MA Iron Man 1, Hypervelocity, Secret Wars Omnibus 1 and 2, and Ultimate Cable and Deadpool. I am on tight funds now. Shockingly, I don't much care.
valtyr: (Default)

My haul

[personal profile] valtyr 2010-03-07 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I got Iron Man Omnibus, Vol. 1, Secret Wars Omnibus, two Daredevil omnibuses, and the Ultimates Omnibus, all $8.24. House of M Iron Man, Wolverine and Hulk, Avengers Disassembled Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, Incredible Herc Sacred Invasion, Infinity Gauntlet, Nextwave: Agents of HATE and the Marvels Project all at $14.99. Everything but Nextwave is hardcover.

Good deals, but I am now a lady of reduced means! I will eat beans for a month and not leave the house.

I hope they honour the deals; considering that most of the Amazon top fifteen is comic trades right now, they stand to lose a lot of money, so they might just cancel. Fingers crossed...

Re: My haul

[identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com 2010-03-08 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
The Iron Man omnibus Vol 1 in hardback with the Granov re-draw of the original issue 1 cover was my grad school graduation present to myself a couple years ago -- I looked at it sitting there on the shelf with its $100 dollar price tag every Wednesday for an entire semester and told myself "when you graduate. When you graduate. Just three two one more month, and you can have it."

[identity profile] epictastic.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a glitch! (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/03/07/official-its-a-glitch-and-its-being-fixed/) Oh man I really hope they don't cancel my orders, because this has been the impetus for my first ever Marvel comics purchase. >_> I got Iron Man and Ultimates and also Cable/Deadpool (can't really tell whether that was discounted but idc.)

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Cable/Deadpool was discounted when I saw it, so unless you missed the glitch you're golden. :D
ext_18328: (Default)

I got

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ultimates omnibus, Secret War, Secret Wars and Forever Avengers and another one I can't remember.

Oh, well.

[identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com 2010-03-08 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. Missed it. That's what I get for going to church instead of surfing the web today.

[identity profile] kyrdwyn.livejournal.com 2010-03-09 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
*pouts* I just got an e-mail from Amazon that due to the pricing glitch, they ran out of The Ultimates Omnibus and don't know when they'll get it back in stock, so they cancelled my entire order.

Nice way to make me pay $65 if they get it back in stock. I think I'll see if my comic store has the others items I ordered instead of going back through Amazon.
valtyr: (Default)

[personal profile] valtyr 2010-03-09 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
They cancelled my order without so much as a courtesy email, which annoys me greatly.

[identity profile] epictastic.livejournal.com 2010-03-10 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
They sent me an email several hours after they baleted 3/4 of my orders, telling me that both omnibuses and the July-release book I pre-ordered (C&D ultimate collection v. 2) sold out. I am skeptical about that last one.

Way to be classy, Amazon. =_=
