Just another question.
Once again, hey y'all. I have a question about allowed pairings.
Seeing as a this is a Captain America x Iron Man community, and Bucky is the current Cap, would posting a Bucky/Tony fic here get me poked with a pitchfork and/or other sharp objects? Steve would obviously be in it, but not in a relationship with Tony. And only be mentioned in the first 3000 words or so (it's an estimate). I'm asking so that I'll know if I can post it for comments and concrit.

The current comm rules are:
Just so we can understand the implications, here's a list to consider.
Captain America
Isaiah Bradley (Briefly during WWII)
Steve Rogers (Most of WWII, most of the modern era)
William Nasland (End of WWII through to late '40s)
Jeff Mace (Late '40s)
William Burnside ('50s)
Roscoe (Briefly when Steve was Nomad)
John Walker (Briefly when Steve was The Captain)
Samuel Wilson (filled in for Steve at one point, I think)
James B. Barnes (Current)
Iron Man
Tony Stark (much of current era)
Happy Hogan (filled in for Tony several times back in the Silver Age)
Jim Rhodes (during the second drinking arc, mostly, and when Tony was injured/dead)

Hm...Even though Bucky is on the Cap list, I guess I can't post it here. Steve/Tony is not the main pairing, and I'm not really sure if Steve will be very prominent. Darn.
Thank you for your reply.

If someone's held either title, I say it counts.

Obviously, it's up to the mods to decide, but I guess I've always felt that this comm was founded for the Steve/Tony ship, not for anyone who currently happens to be calling themselves 'Captain American' or 'Iron Man'.
I'm probably being somewhat more vehement here than I should, but this is something of a pet peeve for me when it comes to comics fandom. Just because more than one person has used a name or a title doesn't mean that they're interchangeable. And I'll freely admit that I'm biased; I'm an OTPer, and whatever the comm's called, it's Steve and Tony I ship, not their secret identities.

A lot of us are newer to comics, and Bucky has been Cap for a few years now (though I don't imagine it will last long, with the movie coming up). It's a fair question.
I would incline towards "no" as well, however.

This is a Steve Rogers/Tony Stark comm, and as I understand the comm's rules, gen that features either Steve Rogers or Tony Stark is allowed, but not fic that pairs them with other people, unless that fic also contains Steve/Tony.
There's a Marvel het, gen, and slash comm called
edited to add: I'd also like to add that it's been important and enjoyable for me to have a comm dedicated solely to my OTP, and if "Iron Man" and "Captain America" were interpreted as applying people other than Steve and Tony for comm posting purposes, I would lose that. And I would regret losing that a lot.

Right. A good example of this would be your fic that had Bucky/Tony happening, but it was essentially in reaction/as a continuance of Steve/Tony.

but yeah raremarvelpairs would be good.

And me personally, I'd kinda like to see it. I mean hell so few people write any of those pairings (let alone characters) that it's not like it would suddenly overwhelm Steve/Tony
BUT I think it's pretty obvious there's some hardcore objecton so maybe just post on marvel slash and raremarvelair (for the record I will so read the fic)

As Ani said above, the comm is a CAP/IRON MAN comm. Whatever the original intentions were, some things have to be considered. Yes, there is a Marvel slash comm and a Rare Pairs comm and OMG! A Steve Loves Tony comm. HMMMMMMMM. Now. Fraaaankly, if we're going strictly by logical naming factors, this comm SHOULD be open to any version of Cap with any version of IM. I'd say that includes the other Iron Men from the comics on the other worlds, and the future worlds (because there is on in that 2099 thing or whatever I don't remember at the moment). BY NAME I would say that this com should be open to the idea. Yes, it's primarily Steve and Tony, and yes, Steve is always going to be thought of as "Captain America" and the first one you think of when you say/write/think the name. Just like Tony is always going to be the Iron Man you think of off the top of your head.
That's just fact. And because publication length is longer on the two and the more main characters. That's a fact. But you CAN NOT name something as ambiguitous as "Cap_Ironman" and not expect this kind of thing to pop up. It has. We should deal with this. MY opinion? Poll it. See what the members of the comm think. Frankly, because the way this is set up and the fact that there is at LEAST one comm dedicated STRICTLY to Steve&Tony? I think it's bogus and bullshit to get all up in arms over this.
And while we're on the topic of naaaaaames (and I KNOW someone's going to want to rip my face off for this) --
What's with the Tony hate.
Namenamenamename. Plz to NOT be forgetting the "_ironman" part of the comm name. Because I'm seeing it a lot. All Steve squee and lots of "oh, Tony got what was coming" and blahblah. I am not impressed. In fact, it kind of makes me sick. Tony deserves his own damned squee. And there should be some serious Steve resentment. It's only fair. Because Steve also MASSIVELY fucked up. But in the interest of not, as someone I was talking to on someone's post in something commented, I don't want to restart Civil War on this comm. I'm just pointed out that the mentality of most Steve/Tony shippers I know and see, there's a lot of Tony hate for people who ship them. This is kind of wrong. And any comments on people screaming at me for that? I will laugh at, and use to cheer myself up on while I pack and deal with a shitty landlord. And will not reply to.
But poll. I believe we should poll the members on how to treat this issue. Because this is an issue that should not be treated lightly and should not be decided by the mods. Because this would be a community type thing that would affect a lot of us. Poll. It. Demooooooocracy~ Steve loves it. You should love it to.

I'm glad to have some input form the Legacy/Legacy side of the debate, and I appreciate your opinion on it.
As to who loves or hates Tony or Steve more? Well, that's a whole topic that we could get/have gotten into. However, it's deeply tangential to this discussion, so perhaps we could table it for now.
I don't particularly want to mod what pairings this comm should cover AND Civil War round 4,372 at the same time.

But word to the wordle on the Tony-hate. D: (clutches him) I am all for the equal apportioning of blame, and it breaks my heart that canon and fandom all seem to have decided that It Was All Tony's Fault. :(

BRB back posting my Steve Irwin/Tony DiNozzo slash to

Pure democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on dinner. This comm is, if it is anything, a constitutional democracy.
We hold these truths to be self-evident; this comm was created for fanworks and squee and discussion about Steve Rogers and Tony Stark of the Marvel universe, with a particular interest in their mutual affection. This is set out in the userinfo, which has not undergone significant changes in the last year and a half at least.
You propose a major change to the fundamental purpose of this comm. You want to alter the fundamental purpose of the comm and invoke democracy to do it? Be ready to produce a supermajority of the members, then. Every member of this comm joined a Steve and Tony comm, as is set out explicitly in the userinfo, and I see no reason why that should be altered. If you feel strongly that there is a need for a comm that ships all iterations of Captain America and Iron Man, then by all means, create one, and here is advance mod permission to promote it on this comm.
I don't want to restart Civil War on this comm.
If you don't want to restart Civil War, then I would advise that diatribes on how Tony is misunderstood and that big meanie Steve gets away with everything, and that people are shipping them wrong, are not the best way to go about it. If you do want to discuss it, I suggest you limit it to relevant posts, or even make your own post, rather than bringing it up in totally unrelated posts.
As a note, if you are in a sufficiently altered state you cannot be certain you will not be offensive, I recommend not posting on controversial topics. This is why I try to avoid drinking and surfing scans_daily at the same time.

Actually, I'm very intrigued to read a Bucky/Tony fic. I've read a few (like two or three), but I'd love to see a new take on it.

... Okay, I'm going to pretend my brain didn't just go there.
Canon, okay, that's fine by me (says the person who has femslash Steve/Gail pre-het Tony/Steve; I am aware that my horse in this race is of an odd breed) because gen fic and friendshipping is allowed, and that means canon love interests. So, for example, a Tony fic with a heart on for Bethany Cabe, that involved Steve. We never really had a question of other Caps or Iron Men before, even though they did exist, with Isiah, Happy, Rhodey and the rest. IDK, I just don't feel like the addition of Bucky to the roster really makes a difference in that.
But, as I said, my horse in this race and all.
This!
And again, there's been other Caps and other Iron Man's, but this was always a Steve/Tony comm in conception and in practice.
The tricky part is also we allow general Steve and Tony separate content, but we don't really have other shippers posting Steve/Sharon or Tony/Pepper over here.
