Squee: The summary is "Tony, for the good of the country, we should get married," and that about sums up why I love it. Steve thinks it's all perfectly logical and reasonable; Tony thinks maybe Steve has gone a little bit insane. It's lovely and ridiculous, with Steve persuading Tony, yes, he can have what he wants, why on earth would he think differently? And the sex is wonderfully written, Tony's lust and nerves are beautifully conveyed while Steve takes it all calmly in stride.

Squee: First off it's a warning for Ultimate!Steve and Ultimate!female!Tony. Their summary: "Steve will later blame Toni and the Asgardian mead, for winding up in Toni's bed." The characterization is interesting, and it's not remotely sweet until the last paragraph. Steve has an interesting perception change about Toni in a couple of ways. Oh and hot rough sex, did I mention that already?

Squee: The first Steve/Tony fic I read, and hooo boy, talk about a sexy introduction to the fandom. There's something about hot sex mixed with angst that's just...unf. The author really nailed (ha!) Tony's character in this one IMO. (It also helps that Steve is a bit dominant in one part. I mean, really helps.)

ohhh, this is the one I was thinking of, but I couldn't find it. Good choice!!

The mental image of Steve being tired and plaintive isn't enough? Well, there's a fight about killing the dinosaur that's hugely cute. And then there is the inevitable mis-connections that you're just kind of face-palming about. Some other stuff happens and then they kiss!

Squee: I'm new to this OTP, so first-time fics are more precious to me in a sense that they give me some sense of beginning (or somewhere to start, at least!) where the pairing and their history are concerned. As at the moment, the one that caught my attention is

muccamukk's Heart of Steel, something I stumbled upon randomly on AO3. Given summary: Steve wakes up in the mid-twenty first century, the Golden Age of America, and doesn't like what he finds. Fortunately, Tony has some ideas.. The characterisation is brilliant; I love how the author didn't rush the development of the relationship. The depth of the fic is just mindblowingly brilliant. I love the dystopian setting of this fic; it just adds a more intricate layer to the entire development of the plot (in which I think the author handled very well). Brilliant work.

Excellent choice? I do believe so, yes.

OH. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. *facepalms* SORRY! Too many late nights, brain not working. *grins* Fanfic recs should only be done when one is sober. I don't know why I was thinking 'first time = no relationship exists prior', as opposed to 'first time = omg first sexytiems!'. My bad! *grins*

But all the same, I must say Heart of Steel is easily one of the most impressive thing I've read this year. ... well you can always consider this rec to be some rec-from-the-future once they actually have sex in it *grins*

Well, there will eventually be sex. Probably. If I get my act together. So I'm sure it counts.

Squee: Steve deal with the culture shock of waking up in the 21st century. This is such a fun fic. I love fics set shortly after Steve wakes up because it allows for fantastic lines such as this one:

Evidently when he walks into the kitchen and asks if anyone wanted him to make coffee, the machine thinks that means it’s supposed to start shooting out overly complicated espressos.

This ends badly, and Steve ends up with a burned hand.

He stays away from the microwave, because that talks too.

Squee: Movieverse!Iron Man with comics elements. It has all the classics of a first time: inner Tony angst, a suicidal saving move, an argument, a date. For all that this is movie verse it feels very much like the 616 universe. And by the end it will make you smile

Squee: Found this on the Steve/Tony Big Bang, and I've read it about three times now. Ultimates fic, and a great one at that - the beginning of a relationship between Steve and Tony (who aren't really super close like they are in 616) is portrayed excellently, as is the personalities of the Ultimates versions of the characters (aided by the comic events).

And it has a hot cover art!

Squee: This is a Marvel Adventure fic that has everything I love - humor, angst, teamwork, and multiple fight scenes. When Tony disappoints Cap, things start going badly for Tony, and the results manage to be both funny and angsty, and the final resolution is very satisfying. The writing is sharp and all of the MA Avengers are spot-on.
