Iron Man 3 release date announced
Iron Man 3 announced for May 2013!
Jon Favreau has already said that if he comes back, he'd like the Mandarin to be the film's villain.
And this will be post-Avengers, so there may be cameos from other Avengers.

If Jon Favreau comes back, I'd love the Mandarin to be the villain... of course, I'd also love Favreau to learn how to make working action scenes. *g*
(Steve cameo!!)

I'm kind torn on the Mandarin. Nice to have a change from more metal suits, but I'm not sure how well he'll translate to film.
Oh yes. He can stop by and make unhelpful comments. "Have you tried dropping a tank on him." And possibly bond with Rhodey and flirt with Pepper while Tony looks affronted at not being the centre of attention.

*falls over laughing* If Tony looks particularly affronted at Steve not flirting with him, that'll be even better. (Considering the actors... I can totally see it, too.)

I'm torn on the director...I know Favreau can make it work, but I'd kind of like to see someone else's take on Tony. You know who would be great would be Bryan Singer; he directed the first two X-Men films (and, uh, Superman Returns, but we won't discuss that, shall we?).

I personally hope they use anyone else in the world. I suspect the Mandarin will bring out the stabbity in me.

On the other hand... I to am iffy about the Mandarin. Yes, he's a classic Iron Man villain, but the odds of him not being portrayed as a horrible racist caricature are so slim as to be nearly nil. :\
Mandarin
Re: Mandarin
On the other hand, if they keep the heroic line-up from Iron Man 2, and the villains are Chinese, that means only one white male major character, which is quite impressive for such a big movie. (And of course he's the hero, but.)
