It's lovely and ridiculous, with Steve persuading Tony, yes, he can have what he wants, why on earth would he think differently? And the sex is wonderfully written, Tony's lust and nerves are beautifully conveyed while Steve takes it all calmly in stride.

Tony's character in this one IMO. (It also helps that Steve is a bit dominant in one part. I mean, really helps.)

Squee: I'm new to this OTP, so first-time fics are more precious to me in a sense that they give me some sense of beginning (or somewhere to start, at least!) where the pairing and their history are concerned. As at the moment, the one that caught my attention is muccamukk's Heart of Steel, something I stumbled upon randomly on AO3. Given summary: Steve wakes up in the mid-twenty first century, the Golden Age of America, and doesn't like what he finds. Fortunately, Tony has some ideas.. The characterisation is brilliant; I love how the author didn't rush the development of the relationship. The depth of the fic is just mindblowingly brilliant. I love the dystopian setting of this fic; it just adds a more intricate layer to the entire development of the plot (in which I think the author handled very well). Brilliant work.

Squee: Steve deal with the culture shock of waking up in the 21st century. This is such a fun fic. I love fics set shortly after Steve wakes up because it allows for fantastic lines such as this one:
Evidently when he walks into the kitchen and asks if anyone wanted him to make coffee, the machine thinks that means it’s supposed to start shooting out overly complicated espressos.
This ends badly, and Steve ends up with a burned hand.
He stays away from the microwave, because that talks too.

It's simmy at her best, y'all. Tony is called to an audience with Dr Strange, only to find that hark, Steve Rogers is here - escaped from the slipstream of time or summat. Anyway, Tony has an option - does he turn on his heel and walk away, or does he go to Steve and try to make amends? The answer is behind that door. Normally, I'm not a fan of sex in fic, because people tend to have it as the subject, to hell with plot, and characterisations and meaningful dialogue be damned - but simmy presses all the buttons, yo, in DOLBY surround sound. Woot.

The aliens are amazingly well written. At times, it's hard to know who to root for. I will not spoil it, but I will admit that this fic leaves me wrecked. Lots of H, with just a touch of C.

This story is so good, there is catharsis of the highest order. At the end, at the last word, you're literally clutching your handkerchief, and dabbing at your eyes like a dame in a matinee. :D

But there's our Tony, who's met an evil Steve in a mirror verse, only to come back to this one, and well, the relationship between himself and Steve has changed. Tony is not just different, but broken, and Steve doesn't know how to go about it, and tries to back away from the role being pushed upon him until it comes from another source. This fic has themes of D/s, references to torture, and it's just twisted. I fear good writers, because they can sell me almost anything.

Squee: I must admit, I don't particularly like canon set in the Silver Age, and as a result of that, I tend to give fic set in this verse a cautious prod. Daedalus is the rare fic that borrows the characteristics from that age, and turns it on its ear. It's a piece of fanfic that encourages you to work at it. Steve Rogers is a soldier out of time, and has this aspect of silent lucidity going on. To say any more will spoil, since likeadeuce has assembled the fic in painstaking, minute detail.

Squee: I'm new to this OTP, so first-time fics are more precious to me in a sense that they give me some sense of beginning (or somewhere to start, at least!) where the pairing and their history are concerned. As at the moment, the one that caught my attention is muccamukk's Heart of Steel, something I stumbled upon randomly on AO3. Given summary: Steve wakes up in the mid-twenty first century, the Golden Age of America, and doesn't like what he finds. Fortunately, Tony has some ideas.. The characterisation is brilliant; I love how the author didn't rush the development of the relationship. The depth of the fic is just mindblowingly brilliant. I love the dystopian setting of this fic; it just adds a more intricate layer to the entire development of the plot (in which I think the author handled very well). Brilliant work.

But there's our Tony, who's met an evil Steve in a mirror verse, only to come back to this one, and well, the relationship between himself and Steve has changed. Daedalus is the rare fic that borrows the characteristics from that age, and turns it on its ear. It's a piece of fanfic that encourages you to work at it.
