Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 19 September 2010

Hi all!

This is the first newsletter crossposted to both [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman and [community profile] c_im, collecting posts made to both comms. If you want to comment in the DW comm with your LJ account, you can use Open ID.

There's a new Avengers Kink Meme at, oddly enough, [community profile] avengers_kink. You can comment anon, so go make Steve/Tony prompts! There's already a few Steve/Tony fills there.

In comics news, there's a couple of What Ifs coming out that might interest you; What If Tony Stark Were Dr Doom, and What If Osborn Won The Siege of Asgard (I'm pretty sure the answer to both is Tony would angst.) There's a Secret Avengers preview, which I adore for the variant cover of Steve playing rock-paper-scissors with Doom. I have no real clue what's happening in Ultimates these days, but this preview shows that Ult Steve has a set of workout clothes in the same design as his costume, which is so dorky I cannot cope. (I guess that's continuity, though, as in Ultimate Six Fury was wearing a Cap-print basketball vest.)

*dies laughing* I didn't know they were still doing Super Hero Squad variant covers! That is absolutely priceless.

Is Secret Avengers worth reading (and if so, why please)? I'm finding anything new that features both Tony and Steve (separately or together) extremely painful to read (I had to take a break reading Avengers #1 when Steve re-banded the team because Tony making sad faces at an oblivious!Steve was too hard for me to bear)... I mean, I've been rereading Marvel Adventures over and over again for the last month.

If you don't like Brubaker's Captain America, you probably won't like Secret Avengers. They're pretty much in the same line.

I don't have any Tony or Steve books right now either! Just Avengers Prime which only comes out once every other month -makes sadface- BUT! I'm really looking forward to lots of Steve stuff coming out soon. I expect to like the Waid book I mentioned last time I did the newsletter, and some of the new books in January.

Okay, I guess I'll pass on the Secret Avengers for now unless I get desperate for some Steve material.

Yeah, the only Steve or Tony books I have is Avengers Prime! Although I'm actually still hanging onto The Invincible Iron Man, but that only makes me angry every time I read it.

I'm also excited for the Mark Waid book! Otherwise I'll just be miserable without Tony or Steve.

Guess it's still back-issue time for me.

I was Not Amused with Steve in Superheroes #1 this week. Or, really, Not Amused with the people who wrote him.

And for something fandom-related, but not specifically related to this comm, I finally got off my metaphorical ass and finished something (http://hallidae.livejournal.com/432849.html).

Actually I was curious about that since it was supposed to be a profile book the superheroes but in Steve's P.O.V. I know there were some things off from other reviews I've read, but seriously the only one I care about was Steve's opinion about Iron Man. What did he say?

[identity profile] cosmicbiscuit.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Most of my pissy dislike is about the fact that he (or, again, the writers) thought it pertinent information to bring up the "questionable relationship choices" of only the female characters. Dudes dating terrorists and demonesses an' shit apparently isn't worth mentioning, but it sure is for the ladies.

[identity profile] angel-inoshi.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I heard about that. Marvels being an all boys club again. To my knowledge there aren't any female writers or editors on Marvel's staff, so there wasn't anyone to smack the writers upside the head XD. But ano, my question was in regard to what particularly did Steve write about Iron Man. I'm just kind of curious about the status quo between them.

That sounds... special. I don't get comics save mailed to me once a month. Nice to have something to pitch at the wall, I guess.

Anyone know where I can find some good Steve/Tony icons? (Or just Steve. Or Tony. Not that picky, really.)

There's the icons tag here. Otherwise, I'd keep an eye on [livejournal.com profile] comicstore_news; they often link to icons.

Icon tag. Of course. *headdesk*

What If Osborne Won The Siege of Asgard

*cough* Osborn, not Osborne.

[identity profile] savemoony.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't they already do "What If Tony was Doom, aka a Bad Guy". I thought it was called Civil War. Oh, Well, the more variants of the Demon in a Bottle cover the better.
