It's not unusual to have future AUs thrown in either as a fun aside or as foreshadowing. There'll probably be a regular Stark Resilient storyline in there too.

That's just one possible future, which I think they're trying to make sure doesn't happen. Have you seen Next Avengers? It's super cute and has some great Tony angst.
