[livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman bookclub, anyone?

Reading comics is awesome. Discussing comics is awesome. In an effort to combine the two, I'm going to lead a [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman bookclub.

I've picked the first story arc of Avengers volume three, which is the first three issues of that volume. They are collected in a trade called Avengers Assemble. Check to see if your local library has it, or swing by your comic book shop. If you can't get your hands on a copy, don't despair! I'll be posting the scans on my journal.

Why this story? It's the first Avengers story after Heroes Reborn, so it's a great reintroduction to many Avengers. The art and storytelling are quality, and there are some pretty slashy Steve/Tony moments!

I'm going to split the story into four parts:
Monday, Feb 21: Issue 1, first half (the first issue is double-sized.)
Thursday, Feb 24: issue 1, second half
Monday, Feb 28: issue 2
Thursday, March 3: issue 3

This way I won't break the community spamming rules, and we'll all get a chance to read and discuss before the next part goes up. Because of the scans, the posts will be locked to community members.

Let me know if there are any problems or suggestions. I'm trying to get a feel for what works the best!

"Lo, there shall come an accounting" is probably one of my favorite comics issues of all time. I can never decide whether Steve interview where he saved the receipts (because he's Steve) or Beast's interview where he explains why he was flying the quinjet with his feet is better.
