New footage for Captain America: The First Avenger plus one new image

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42jAbXKmWdo

Some new footage plus take a look around 0:24 to see who is checking out Steve (and probably the main reason why you guys should see this).

6 seconds taken from the new yet to be released Captain America trailer, it's a small scene with skinny Steve being bullied and echoes of the shield.

Heh. Steve's face after Peggy shoots at him will always, always be epic.

Not gonna lie: CGI Chris Evans Head on Clearly Not Chris Evans Body still freaks me out juuust a tad. But, hey, if I gotta sit through ten minutes of that to get to...

OI HAI HOWARD! Poor Movie!Tony. His father so got there first. That's not gonna be awkward the first time Steve and him make out. Nope. Not at all. And I cannot stop laughing at Howard drooling at him over the brims of his sunglasses/googles. Bwaaahh... Awesome. Just awesome.

Rest of the footage looks good too! Looks like a total romantic escapist romp. I suspect already know because I have to listen to the stupid fanboys in class some fans will probably cry a river cause it's not Saving Private Ryan. Doesn't bother me at all. It looks fun. Summer blockbuster, general audiences, popcorn munching, shield wielding fun.

Oh, and Peggy. SO BAD ASS.

It's canon Steve likes to work his way down family trees. When he gets to the future, he'll replace Peggy with Sharon and Howard with Tony. Then Bucky with Rick Jones. Then he'll try to recruit the new Human Torch to the team. Then he'll try and persuade Thor to dye his hair black and wear green panties.

Then they'll get him some counselling, like they should have done when they first defrosted him.

And when Odin asks for an explanation, Thor will blame it on Loki, as usual.

Have you ever noticed that Odin is practically the only costumed Marvel character who actually has a wardrobe? Everyone else wears the same thing day in, day out. Even the Wasp will wear a single outfit for months on end.</digression>

*sprofles*

Yeah, speaking of awkward, remember the time that Deadpool was wearing Jean's Marvel Girl outfit in front of Scott? I totally count Cable and Deadpool as So Married so they are his in-laws so ewwwww!

Srsly though, Howard looks kinda greasy, like a 70s porno director greasy. I'm going to go with the theory that Tony got his charm from his mommy so that whatever Howard had was One-Sided!

Was the black hair and green panties a reference to Namor?

Well, we only see a couple of second of Howard, so we'll see.

Yeah, Namor. :)

Hah. That always reminds me of:

I love it. I am literally doubled over laughing. I'm trying to picture Steve in a tolerance seminar and the mental images are great.

Looks good! And looks like Peggy's actually an important part of the film. Fingers crossed for properly integrated wartime romance with badass woman rather than bolted-on cliches with cardboard cutout. But I'm sure Hayley Atwell will make it work. She looks great.

And Steeeeve. ♥ He looks so perfect. How can I wait. And shield throwing!

HAHAAHA Oh Howard. Like father like son, apparently!

[identity profile] flufflenecharka.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Howard oggling Steve is so awkward. (And it seems like more than one generation would've passed between WW2 era adult to present era adult, but okay, suspending my disbelief for a moment, my own father was born in 1940 and I'm 19, so assuming Howard had kids late in life and Tony's younger than he looks, it could work.)

Also I have a crush on Peggy roughly the size of the moon and this thing isn't even out yet.

All it takes is for Howard to get married and have kids in his late 50s/early 60s. My uncle (my mother's oldest brother) is seventy and has a five year old. It is massively hilarious to us all that the rest of us have our own kids significantly older than that. My grandmother has a great-great-grandson (via her daughter) the same age as her grandson by her eldest son.

[identity profile] flufflenecharka.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I know, I know it's possible. But it takes some thinking. I'd have bought it without thinking if it was Tony's grandfather. Just sayin'.

Ha ha, well, agreed, I admit I raised an eyebrow when first introduced to the idea of Howard the war profiteer (yes, the movie was my introduction, mea culpa). But I shrugged it off pretty fast. It doesn't take mental gymnastics, is what I'm saying. Give it another ten years though, and we'll be in trouble. ;-p

We did see Howard and bb Tony together in Iron Man 2; a very well preserved 50/60...

He was pretty fine, agreed. ;-p

In my head, Steve likes Howard and thinks of him as a good friend, but he isn't in love with him. When he is rescued, he mourns his friend and is glad that he found happiness. He is quite shocked to when he realizes that he has fallen for Howard's son.
