Origami Iron Man

Came across this link on my flist and decided it was relevant to our interests.

Origami Iron Man

Damn, I'm so jealous of people who can make stuff like that.

Kind of sad to see Ironman without Captain America.

How cool. Now I wish I could understand the foldings so I could reproduce it. As it is, the image with the folding process looks like stained glass to me :(

I am pretty sure I would pay more for one of those than a legit action figure. I'm just saying. And the "Side note: Tony Stark went to MIT" made me giggle.

It really is! So intricate, and it must have taken so much time and effort! I can't even imagine keeping at it for that long, or even being able to design something like that. A++, Brian Chan.

Cracked me up that he mentioned that Tony was also an MIT grad. ;P Also, I love that he included the insanely complicated "schematics" 'cause now I'm picturing Tony reproducing it. Very creative engineer.

Holy shit. That's awesome. Now I'm tempted to try to reproduce it. But I'm pretty sure that I'd have to use a very large piece of paper to be able to have it be adequately thin relative to the surface area to manage without a vice or just plain messing up, and I don't have the time to figure out all the details or find a piece of paper that big. But I am seriously impressed. Wow.

Yeah, to reproduce that, I'd probably have to print out the schematic fairly big, trace it onto a two or three foot square of paper, and resign myself to messing up horribly at least a dozen times before making any progress at all. I know I could manage the actual folding if I could figure out what I was meant to be doing; I'm good with my hands and have made origami in the past, but that doesn't mean I can make sense of the diagram. That guy is pretty much amazing.
