Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 3 April 2011

Hello and welcome to the weekly [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman/[community profile] cap_ironman newsletter.

Yes, this is late. LJ is being a pain.

First up, we have a Twitter. Check out the link on the side bar to see it, or go here. Right now, it's just set to broadcast posts made to the comm, but we may use it to tweet Steve/Tony news (depending on how organised Team Mod is). Please do add it and tweet updates in it's general direction.

Prompts are open for claiming on [livejournal.com profile] queer_fest (as [livejournal.com profile] grand_duc has pointed out). If you just want to see the Steve, Tony and Steve/Tony ones, [personal profile] snowynight has kindly made a list.

Just scattered bits of news this week. IGN's Hero Worship column had an article about the interrelation between box office and comic sales, with an eye to the new Cap film. Marvel, being the tease they always are, is asking for fan opinions on an advanced preview for Captain America. Interested in owning comic book art? There's a great New Avengers cover auction going on, with lots of Steve and Tony to be found. Marvel has also announced that Grag Pak will be writing a Red Skull limited run, starting in July. The covers alone look fantastic.

In movie news, there's a new picture of Peggy Carter being all bad ass. I'm so excited! Also, if you managed to miss the '90s direct to video Captain America movie, Chris Simms over at Comics Alliance has helpfully reviewed it for you, warning for spoilers and sarcasm.

Lots of previews with Cap in them this week. Want to see Steve being gloriously petty check out Avengers: The Children's Crusade, and of course there's the final part of Ultimate Captain America, part four of Captain America: Hail Hydra, and the first part of Fear Itself.

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments (Now at one hundred and fifty moments). If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. If you're looking for a particular story, why not try [livejournal.com profile] cap_im_finders? If you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me, [livejournal.com profile] garrideb and [livejournal.com profile] valtyr.

And feel free to post on-topic or off-topic stuff in the comments to this post! Just keep it reasonably safe for work, please.

I am frankly disappointed that part wasn't described more in the review. Because, um, Captain America stealing a car? By faking motion sickness? Twice in the same movie?!

It just might be one of the greatest ideas in cinematic history.

The Nostalgia Critic did a review on that movie some time back (http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic/10915-captaina). Which, besides containing the lulziest parts of it (inclduing the car-stealing), has the added benefit of snarky commentary. And truth be told, I'm just too lazy to check for the clip on YouTube.
