So, I'm sure everyone has heard the joyous news of gay marriage being legalized in New York.  Since Steve & Tony are New Yorkers, I think we should be celebrating this here; wedding pics, fics, the works.  Because you know those two are gonna be among the first down the aisle. Who's with me?

Tony cleared his throat and waved a gauntleted hand back and forth. "Steve and I have already established that we're together for better and for worse and all that, so if we could just get to the good part?"

The minister looked to Steve for confirmation, who nodded. "That's fine with me," he said.

The minister shrugged and gave them both a helpless look. "Do you, Tony Stark, take Steve Rogers to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do," Tony said. His grin had quieted to something softer, more quiet, something that made Steve's heart swell to see.

The minister looked to Steve. "Do you, Steve Rogers, take Tony Stark to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do," Steve said, matching Tony's quiet, but confident tone.

"Then I now pronounce you, um, husbands." The minister looked slightly frazzled. Whether it was because he was new at this or because the nearest car's alarm had started to shriek, Steve wasn't sure. "You may now kiss each other."

Steve leaned in at the same time Tony did, and he caught the other man's lips in a soft kiss, and then almost jumped as a great clatter of whooping and clapping broke out somewhere behind him. He whirled around just in time for Clint to give an entirely inappropriate whistle and couldn't help but grin. Most of the Avengers had gathered behind them, dirty and torn but smiling and laughing like there was nowhere on earth they'd rather be. A small gathering of some braver civilians had gathered as well, attracted to the crowd, and most were clapping as well. Even unmasked, there was no doubting the impromptu wedding of Iron Man and Captain America.

"Well, that solves the witness problem," the minister mused.

Tony opened his mouth to reply, but was cut off by a large explosion to the east. His mouth snapped shut and he gave a rueful smile. "Looks like the celebration's going to have to wait," he said, and bent to retrieve his helmet. Then he extended an arm to Steve.

Shaking his head, Steve accepted the silent invitation. He pulled his cowl back up over his head as Tony's arm looped around his waist, and then they were soaring off into the air, ready to face their next (annoying, terrifying, exhilarating) adventure.

Poor guys. At this rate, they're going to get banned form all public buildings.

Good idea: Make nice so the supers so they protect you from the bad guys.
Bad idea: Make nice enough that they lead the bad guys to you. XD

It's a hard knock life!

That is awesome, and totally in the tradition of Marvel superhero weddings. I love how the villains seem to have a compulsive need to crash Steve & Tony's wedding. It's not easy getting hitched as a superhero!

As far as I can figure it, sometimes villains attack because they have legit evil plans they'd like to carry out, and sometimes they just like to be assholes. This falls in the second category.

This fandom is turning me into a sap. I swear I never used to get all teary-eyed over fictional characters establishing the definition of their relationship with a legal contract before.

My first reaction when the villains started showing up was that they were there to watch. I blame the amount of rainbows and unicorns in the comments on this entry.

My first thought (besides giggling over Doom being the first. *shot*) was that somewhere deep deep in their villanious hearts they were upset over not being invited. Because the relationship of villains and their chosen adversary/ies is always a ~*special*~ thing. =3= This was followed by a mental image of a church with villains on the left side and heroes on the right, but that's another story.

This is so lovely I'm having trouble writing it in any bigger words ♥ Also, pretty much the only way it could go in the end, I suspect. :'D
