It's kind of awkward discussing movies in the space between movie and DVD, isn't it? I've more than once been surprised by a rewatch because I'd mentally reframed scenes in the interim.

I just think there's a bit of a tendency to gloss over the bad things Loki did because he's angsty and insecure and charming. IMO, it's a disservice to the character - his fierce pride and cunning and ruthlessness are part of what makes him fascinating. (Like, I don't know if you've read the JMS run, where Loki was female for a good chunk of it - but it was the ambiguity of Loki's characterisation, the fact he could do good things but also terrible things, that gave him so much tension and depth. There was a great moment when he realised a particular plan had played out to be so much more damaging than he'd intended, and he was actually horrified by what he'd inadvertantly brought about. It was great.)
