De-lurking to beg!
Hi there folks! I've been a long (long) time lurker of this community, enjoying all the tasty and delicious things posted here for Cap/IM goodness. The sad part is I only recently have started to dive into the comic portion of this fandom. I'd say it's genetic, since my father grew up with the Iron Man comics (and IM is thusly his favorite), but sadly he didn't keep the comics. Or rather he did, but it's one of those things where he moved at some point as a teen and they got lost.
So I've de-lurked to beg for help!! I would love it if you folks could point out some of the 'key' comics to have for both Iron Man and Cap.
I apologize if this post doesn't comply with the rules, mods feel free to delete if this violates your rules in any way! >_>;
I am preferably looking for the stories with slashy goodness, but any good story arcs would be appreciated. I've gone over the comm rules and I have seen the HUGE LIST of slashy moments but I don't even know where to start for buying the comics D8
I do have the Civil War, Extremis, Siege, Dark Reign, and Secret Invasion arcs (the ones in giant booklet form, sans for Dark Reign) and I recently obtained Demon in a Bottle. I rather liked the Civil War arc in a 'hurts so good' way. I'll be very curious to see how the novelization of it turns out next year.
Book-type compilations are what I am looking for, ideally, since I have little funds for spending on comics and I find the big compilations a better value. I have been eyeballing the Armor Wars comic on Amazon, parts I, II, and the Prologue, but the reviews are mixed on it. They also have a big booklet for the Iron Monger arc. I would LOVE to find some key booklet-type comics for the Avengers stuff but again, I get lost with all the different variations for Avengers x_x I've been looking at this compilation for the Avengers and this one for the Ultimates.
There is so much to try and choose from and I figure it's time to stop chasing after reviews on a hundred different websites (with varying opinions) and just de-lurk and ask the place that matters most - the Cap/IM slash community! XD
Thanks to everyone in advance 83

Personally, I'm a huge fan of volume three of the Avengers, which started in 1998. The first 50ish issues were written by Kurt Busiek and drawn by George Perez, and they made a great creative team. Here (http://www.amazon.com/Avengers-Assemble-Vol-Kurt-Busiek/dp/0785144986/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313814252&sr=1-1) is the first collection. If you want a taste, I uploaded scans of the first three issues here (http://cap-ironman.livejournal.com/623734.html).
Much later in volume three came the story arc Red Zone (http://www.amazon.com/Avengers-Red-Zone-Geoff-Johns/dp/0785144668/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313814838&sr=1-1), of which you've probably seen some slashy scans. I consider that a must-have for Cap/IM fans. I love the art, the story is pretty solid, and well... the mouth to mouth helps a little...
(If the volume numbering confuses you at all, as it did me for a long, long time, this site (http://www.comicvine.com/the-avengers/49-2128/) is pretty helpful.

Thanks so much for the recs! I can't believe I forgot about Red Zone, definitely tossing that one in the cart >_> Thanks for the link to the scans for Avengers too, I'm going to see how I like those first 3 issues before deciding on the book. And wow, yeah, needed that site for making sense of the volume numbering XD
Happy OP is happy! ^3^

What about Iron Man's "Execute Program" that follows Extremis? Steve's all, "I don't like these changes!" and Tony's all, "Let
me kill myself to save you! Again!" (It's more an IM story, but Steve appears.)
Then there's always Avengers Prime in all it's naked-horse-riding glory.
