Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 12 February 2012

Hello and welcome to the weekly [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman/[community profile] cap_ironman newsletter.

A few comm-related reminders:
1. If you signed up to create art for the Cap/Iron Man Reverse Bang, your drafts are due one week from today. I've already received some gorgeous art, and look forward to more in the near future.
2. This comm has a Spamming Policy in place to keep one user from flooding out the rest. I hope everyone will familiarise themselves with it.
3. Valentine's Day is coming up. Anyone what to have a themed prompt fest? Other ideas?

Slowish week from comics news (especially if you're pretending AvX doesn't exist). Bendis, Bagley & Brevoort did another interview about Avengers Assemble. If Steve Rogers beat up and tied to a chair is your thing (and I don't see why it wouldn't be), do take a look at this preview for Avengers #22.

Otherwise it's all be merchandising, merchandising and more merchandising. There's a rather nice Harley Davidson desktop image of the movie team, some Halloween costumes that are less totally horrible than Marvel's past efforts in this area (and Natasha actually gets one!), and odd little glowy signs things. If you're looking for a laugh, do check out Chris Sims write up of this year's superhero Valentine Cards.

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments (Now at one hundred and fifty moments). If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. If you're looking for a particular story, why not try [livejournal.com profile] cap_im_finders? If you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me, [livejournal.com profile] garrideb and [livejournal.com profile] valtyr.

And feel free to post on-topic or off-topic stuff in the comments to this post! Just keep it reasonably safe for work, please.

In case anyone's interested, Marvel just posted pictures of the Avengers Lego Sets here: http://marvel.com/news/story/18104/first_look_avengers_toys_from_lego

Also, I just wanted to make an offer to the mods- I run the Marvel Stuff (http://fuckyeahmarvelstuff.tumblr.com) blog over at Tumblr, and so I have to keep up with all the merchandising/toys news anyways...if you'd like I could send y'all a PM on Saturdays with relevant movie toy links for the newsletter.

They are cute! Although I was surprised that they did such a giant head for Iron Man, rather than do separate heads like Minimates.

And thank you! ^///^ I try to keep it organized and straight forward...and reign in my inner fangirl's desire to post nothing but Captain America and Iron Man stuff. If any of the other mods are interested, or maybe as we get closer to the release date, if y'all are interested just shoot me a PM. :D

His helmet is all sorts of adorable, but I think I'm in love with Natasha's figure. I love how they did her hair. :D And yeah SPOILERS for the article- I didn't bother to read it until just now, but jeeze Marvel!.

If anyone wants to see the Lego pics without fear of spoilers: http://marvel.com/images/gallery/story/18104/images_from_first_look_avengers_toys_from_lego

Awesome, I've followed it with the cap-ironman Tumblr so I can reblog relevant stuff. Thanks very much for letting us know!

Thank you for the follow! I've been doing some tag-cleaning today and added one for all the movie merchandise: http://fuckyeahmarvelstuff.tumblr.com/tagged/Avengers-movie

(And it's the least I could do- I'm not an artist or much of an author, but I like being able to contribute something to this wonderful community!) ^^

OMG NATASHA'S COSTUME HAS PANTS.

PANTS, Y'ALL.

PANTS.

And also, the write-up for the Valentines are hilarious. As a grown woman who bought a mailbox!Cap set and a regular Avengers set and am even now trying to make myself give them to people (like my coworkers are going to be surprised at this point, pfft) they're pretty much spot-on.

I've also decided that I've been spoiled for desktop wallpaper. The official stuff just doesn't work for me. Siiiiigh.

Finally, my fic title takes up two lines in wide-screen format. So proud. :') No, really, I worked hard to make a title that ridiculously over-the-top and no one will ever make me regret it.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2012-02-13 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. It makes me want to go as Natasha next Halloween, just for the Joy of Pants.

Thank you :D I love my titles for that series. AO3 has a 255 limit for titles, and I was genuinely annoyed that I couldn't figure out how to get another 22 characters in there. Next time, AO3. Just you wait. I'm going to break all the tags, mwahaha.

Though I admit, the temptation to fill in the summary with "see title" is difficult to resist. Maybe next fic.
