“Steve?”

“I’m busy.”

“You’re baking. Why are you baking?”

“I wanted blueberry pie.”

“I could have bought you pie. I have a lot of money, you know. I can buy things like pie.”

“It’s not the same when you buy it. And I like baking. It’s relaxing.”

“You have flour in your hair, is that relaxing?”

“The flour is perfectly happy there, yes. Go build something shiny.”

“I could improve your oven. I bet we could get the baking time down to—”

“No, Tony.”

“See if I share the new vibrating bed with you, later, then.”

“…what did you do to our bed?”

“You don’t get to find out. Can I eat that?”

“That’s unbaked pie dough.”

“You know what would help with this? Vodka.”

“We’re not putting vodka in the blueberry pie, Tony.”

“Why are you baking, again?”

“It’s a stress reliever.”

“What do you have to be stressed about? Last night was fantastic, the world’s doing great, no insane supervillains have tried to kill us for, oh, must be two days now…”

“I have something to ask you. Later.”

“And you’re stressed about it? Ask me now. I won’t bite. Well, maybe later.”

“I really don’t—”

“I’m not leaving until you tell me.”

“Do you know how incredibly annoying you are?”

“Yes. Go on, ask me anything. Whatever it is.”

“Fine! Fine. Just remember that I had big plans for this. There was going to be champagne. But now you don’t get champagne, and it’s your own fault.”

“Why was there going to be champagne? There can still be champagne.”

“Tony, will you marry me?”

“Yes.”

“…yes?”

“Yes. Absolutely. Right now, if you want. With the flour in your hair.”

“I’m serious, Tony.”

“I know. So am I.”

Thanks! They're such fun to write dialogue for. And I do love the idea of Steve baking as a stress-reliever, being all domestic. They can deal with the supervillains later; first there needs to be pie. :-)

Yeah, I mean, there are plenty of fics I really admire about these two that are all dark and sad and everything, but basically my headcanon is that they are unbearably adorable together. It's weird, I have the biggest sweet tooth in this fandom, when normally I like a little bit of darkness. Maybe it's because the actual canon has more than enough angst to be getting on with. In other fandoms, if someone wrote something uncomplicatedly domestic and fluffy it wouldn't really be my thing, but with these guys I am all about that. So yeah basically more of this sort of thing would not go amiss with me is what I'm saying. CARRY ON.

Yes, I think they really do lend themselves to ALL THE ANGST, and of course that's always fun to wallow around in, in this fandom--but I totally love happy endings and fluff, and it IS fic, so we can arrange that, right? :-p

Tomorrow, or the day after, I'll probably post the fic in which Steve and Tony watch, and mock, the 1944 black-and-white Captain America serial film. It's fantastically bad... *grin*

Yes, I don't know how much *new* stuff will come up, but I figured I should at least give the older things a wider audience. I might put up the Steve-and-Tony-watch-the-1944-Cap-film one today...

Tony would be a terribly frustrating boyfriend, seriously. But not on purpose; he'd just get distracted by new shiny things and technological challenges, and completely forget small details like dinner plans. But then he'd try to apologize in very inventive ways. Steve is good for him, because Steve is patient and genuinely nice and all of those things that Tony isn't. They're good complements. :-p

I suspect Tony's the kind of boyfriend who, even while he's being incredibly annoying, is still so lovable that you can't help but want to hug him. (And of course the flour is happy there--Steve's hair, like the rest of him, is clearly irresistible! :-p )
