His characterisation of Tony seems very divisive; some people are of the opinion it's the best run of Iron Man ever, and some consider it woefully out of character.
What is pretty unarguable is that he's either unaware of, or chooses to disregard, quite a lot of previous canon. (For instance, Tony declaring he'd be rebuilding his fortune from scratch for the first time.)
It seems to me he has stories to tell - which may be good stories - that don't always fit with the situations and characters he has to tell them with, and he's not very good at adapting them. So he tweaks the characters to fit the stories, which I don't enjoy.
