Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 11 March 2012

Slightly late this week, because, uh, reasons. Well, here's previews of a whole bunch of comics; Avengers Assemble is probably worth some interest, as that's the one where a creator waxed lyrical over Tony's mancrush on Cap. There's also speculation on who will die in Avengers vs X-Men. I wish they'd stop killing people... okay, who would you pick?

On to the glorious stuff.

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments. If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. Didn't he already die though?
Wouldn't mind seeing him dead again though.

Tony. It's his turn. He hasn't died in ages.

now why would they kill Tony in an event series when he has a perfect good book of his own to die in? XD

Fraction made Bucky die in his event. This will be Brubaker's revenge.

[identity profile] arachnes-web.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but wouldn't Fraction have to actually care about Tony for it to be revenge? I mean, beyond the paycheck.

(I am so, so happy Winter Soldier is officially not involved in this.)

The scary thing is I have it on reasonably good authority that Tony is essentially Fraction's self insert.

(I am too, and I don't even read WS)

Seriously? that's just...wow.... o.O

I'd rather not say. It was at a conn, but not on a panel, so...

Seriously? I know that Fraction over id's with Tony (it seems that Fraction had his own go around with the Demon in the Bottle irl), but dang. Oh well, Dan Brown does it, I guess.

lol This makes a scary amount of sense, considering that his IIM run reads to me much like an Iron Man movie fanfic.

It makes his Tony's "I'm just a regular guy" speech patterns make more sense as well.

And I am more certain than ever now he has a humiliation kink -_-

Ditto on the Steve!angst...he needs a turn! :D

Love your Ms Marvel icon! who's the illustrator?

[identity profile] downthemanhole.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Just chiming in to say the icon is made from Phil Jimenez' cover art. Issue 38 of Ms. Marvel v2. I think it is supposed to be Karla Sofen though (which was a little disappointing, since I adore Carol's original costume).

Jimenez art was the best, too bad he didn't draw nearly as many covers as Greg Horn and Sana Takeda. Their art tends to make me froth at the mouth.*sighs*

oh and I'm all for Tony's dying and Steve!angst. My faith in this fandom is huge and I expect delicious fic if Tony kicks the bucket.

Has he ever died? Not counting that one time we do not speak of with the teenager and the pocket universe?

[personal profile] muccamukk 2012-03-13 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I was counting that time. Otherwise, no. He's faked his death a bunch of times though.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
And Journey into Mystery continues to be my new happy place.

My vote's with Tony to die. He's due; and after everything he's gone through the past few years, it's probably the only way to wipe the slate clean and it lines up with my low, low expectations of cheap drama. Plus, the Iron Man movie isn't due out this year. Perfect timing.

[identity profile] marinarusalka.livejournal.com 2012-03-15 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You have a point there. If Tony dies as Fraction leaves the book, we can survive a year or so with the replacement Iron Man, whoever he turns out to be, and then Tony can come back in time for Iron Man 3 with a rebooted characterization that doesn't suck. Given the degree to which Fraction has wrecked the character, it might be the best thing that could happen to him.
