WonderCon happened - did anyone go? My favorite news from WonderCon - and this isn't directly related to Steve or Tony (except in that Carol has a fascinating relationship with both of them) but I am so excited about this - is that Kelly Sue DeConnick is writing a Carol Danvers ongoing series. Read the whole interview; DeConnick is funny and insightful. There's more info here and here. I am almost as excited for this as I am for the Avengers film. Speaking of which, movie tickets are on now on sale. Have you all made plans already for where and when you'll see it? There are some new posters to whet your appetite.

So excited about Captain Marvel! Remember when we were at Wiscon last year, and she said something about how she was trying to figure out Carol's power set? I thought she was just making a point about Back Story Is Confusing, at the time, but now I'm wondering...

I'd forgotten about that! Now that you mention it, she was talking about reading the Carol's Wiki article and trying to sort out her history, too. I'm just so happy - if I'd been asked what ongoing I wanted most, I'd have said a Ms. Marvel one, and if asked who I'd most want to write it, I'd say Kelly Sue DeConnick. It's a complete wish come true!

She's doing that Ghost thing for Darkhorse too. It's going to be a good year for her, I think.

Can you now use your magic title granting powers to get someone good put on Iron Man?

Somewhere I have a link to a long interview with DeConnick wherein she talks about many things including the old character design, and why she'd rather have her character naked (Ah, here it is). I really like Phill Noto and how he draws women.

Whoa, I'm really getting excited the new Carol series too! LOVE the new costume. And love what the writer's saying.

Would it be wrong to post in this com asking if there's anyone near me who wants to see it? I think it would be cool to see it with people with similar ~interests.

I adore everything DeConnick says in those interviews; I feel she has a strong grasp of Carol and will be telling interesting stories. I've got mixed feelings on the costume, but I want to see more of it in the interior art before I decide if I like it or not.

You can certainly post about fan meet-ups. I think there's a meet-up tag, even!

Also not sure how much news this is, but since I didn't hear of it until this week and didn't see it mentioned in the last newspost; there's going to be a Captain America & Iron Man team-up (in the same spirit of the Cap and Hawkeye team-up issues etc) running for four issues come... June, I think. So there's that to look forward to as well I don't have enough comics to look forward to these days.

Carol's book will fill a gaping hole in my life the universe.

I'm not sure if someone already posted about the Cap/Iron Man team-up issues... it sounds familiar but I could be thinking of something else. Either way, I'm happy there are more comics for Steve/Tony shippers to get excited about!

As excited as I am I'm kind of trying to prevent myself from becoming too excited. Because all the titles I like end up being cancelled anyway. D:

I'm quite sure I saw the news on Tumblr, but of course that doesn't mean they can't have been posted here earlier and I just forgot. No matter, still something to look forward to. There's been a bit of rather nice Steve and Tony interaction over in Captain America lately from what I've seen, too. That + depowered Steve + Alan Davis art kind of makes me tempted to hunt down a couple of the latest issues, as I haven't been following that title. =3=

Yeah, my hopes are up and there's a good chance they'll be crushed. But maybe this will be the time Marvel doesn't break my heart!

I was curious so I looked back and it was posted here (http://cap-ironman.livejournal.com/770269.html) in the newsletter. There's probably been more news since then, though. I don't read any Cap titles on a monthly basis, but one of my friends does and then shows me all the relevant panels, and yes, the art is great and Steve & Tony are sweet together. And Tony was in a sharp three-piece suit in the last one (why yes I'm shallow).

lol, somewhere there is a villain mastermind greater than the Hand, greater than the Hood, greater than Doom or Loki or any of those amateurs. And this mastermind controls all the strings in the Marvel universe towards one nefarious purpose: to make sure that no date goes uninterrupted.

Yeah, that cover is kinda shabby, but whatever. It's the inside that counts!

I went to WonderCon for like 3 hours or so :) was kinda sad I couldn't go in my 1940s Iron Man with my Cap as usual but it was a really good convention either way. Aaaaah Carol! Aaaaaah movie!

Wow, Kelly Sue DecConnick. She's speaking some truth to power, boy. I do hope that she gets the chance to do a good run. It would be nice reading about Carol Danvers every month, true facts.

I really hope she gets a good run, too. I mean, Carol's last run was, what, 50 issues, and as much as enjoyed it, I feel the writing suffered from being pulled into each event. So I'm hoping that if DeConnick has a strong vision for her story and if Marvel has calmed down on making everything about The Big Events, maybe the book will really sell.

I was impressed with her Norman Osborn and he was an unlikeable character, so it's nice to see her being given a space to get a book going. It's nice that Carol is all clothed as well. Strangely, I think I'll miss Carol's hair.

I feel DeConnick has really proven herself with Osborn and the Sif and Rescue Marvel Women one-shots.

I did like Carol's long flowing hair, but I'm okay with something less in danger of being ripped out in battle. And maybe the style will change throughout the book.

Like, it's sensible if she had her hair short and in a braid, and I'm sure it will grow on me in time. I wanted to cheer DeConnick re: her thoughts on Carol's costume though. At least Carol has a writer who's rooting for her... the last writer on the book didn't seem to know what to do with her at all.

Hmm, my opinions are rather opposit of yours. I'm ambivalent about the name change but happy about the costume change. I'm not really in love with the new costume, but... well, Carol's had the black swimsuit outfit for a long time now. I liked the lightning bolt design, and some artists drew it well, but others gave it a severe bikini cut that left most of her butt and thighs bare, which looked ridiculous.

As for her name, I would have prefered she went back to Warbird or Binary. Monica Rambeau was Captain Marvel before Carol, and of course Mar-Vell will always be Captain Marvel first and foremost in most fans' minds.

Whatever though, I'm so happy this comic is happening!
