Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 25 March 2012

Hello and welcome to the weekly [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman/[community profile] cap_ironman newsletter.

Important Reverse Bang Reminder: All participants should have got a check in e-mail (If you haven't comment here, and I'll sort you out). I'm going to start PMing people tomorrow, but anyone who doesn't check in by Friday will be replaced by a pinch hitter. There's absolutely no shame in dropping out, but earlier is better if you need to.

I didn't dig too deeply for news this week. There's a new trailer out for season two of Avengers: The Earth's Mightiest Heroes, as well as some details on what the plot arc will be.

Yet more Avengers pictures from the movie, no particular spoilers.

Solicitations for comics coming out in June. You'll note that Captain America and Iron Man will be a title you can buy. I'm very excited. There's also no less then eleven titles featuring the word AVENGERS. And I'm really not sure what the hell's going on in Invincible Iron Man.

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments (Now at one hundred and fifty moments). If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. I'm going to have to burst your bubble on the Fraction is leaving part. He's finishing up his "3rd act" but I'm not sue how much longer he's on IIM

You know...when I first read your post I somehow missed the 4 months in advance part...lol. Teaches me to post at something o'clock :B Well, looking at the June solicits...#518-519 has new Iron Man, Tony's assassination, and something is going to happen with Spymaster. I think I read somewhere someone dies, but I doubt that actually is going to be Tony since...well I'm pretty sure he pulled this stunt before right? Fraction just seems to re-vamping past story arcs really...so I won't be surprised if Nu-shellhead is Rhodey...or Pepper >_> I will admit, if it's the dwarf, I can honestly say I didn't see that coming. It could possible be Bethany Cabe...the whole earn her paycheck thing they mentioned way back whenever.
Anyway, sidetracked...July, if they are still double shipping will probably be the wrap up and establishment of the new guy and thus conclusion of the third arc, so to speak. What Fraction plans after that is anyone's guess, but [thinks] depending on how this ends...we have the issue of the Mandarin future he's somehow tied to...so the next arc (hopefully last) will be Tony confronting that...unless he actually does die...

[peers at you and waves]
Yo...to answer your question of what is happening in Invincible Iron Man [sideways glance] Well, I ranted about it a whole lot in my journal...lol enough for my friends to give me a pat on the head. Buuuut...[sighs] the bottom line is that if you are a Tony fan, his solo comic isn't exactly the best place to get your fix. I know personally I've been just grasping for straws in Bendis' Avengers title...which is somewhat sad. Truth be told, I haven't been reading each issue as in-depth as I should, but honestly...it's like a constant cycle of see Tony fail...see it get worse for Tony...repeat for next 10 issues.

So...warning up ahead somewhat SPOILERS!!! TURN back while you can!
Essentially, the main arc following the events of Fear Itself is a somewhat continuation or the arc that was going on before last year event. Tony trying to build up a greener energy source, Hammer being !@#$ and trying to take Tony down. It seemed like Tony and his new company, Stark Resilient were making head way...but there was a problem. Tony fell off the wagon during F.I. and got drunk >_> which was SOMEHOW all really orchestrated by Justine Hammer working with Stane who is being controlled/manipulated by the Mandarin. How they rationalized that Tony would actually take a drink from the bottle they sent who the heck knows...we call that "plot no jutsu" in the Naruto fandom.
Anyways, this leads to Hammer somehow making the U.S. Govenment...namely some general guy who Tony said "no, I do't wanna build weapons for you"...question whether or not Tony has the right to be Iron man. Fraction's reasoning "would you let a police officer with a gun still be on duty if he was found drunk on the job". Now of course, some of you may be asking...wait, the government telling Tony he can't be Iron Man or to be precise...have direct control of when/how/where Tony can be Iron Man. Why yes, you see while apparently is undergoing this...trial? Not trial...probation? I'm not sure.... The general guy and Hammer make Tony wear what essentially amounts to an off switch. And this is all happening when Mandarin decides to get every know Iron Man villain alive to basically kill Tony/make his life hell/etc. Supposedly Tony has planned for this...[looks at next issues cover] but I think that may backfire......then again at this point, I am not surprised that Tony can't win worth !@#$ as long as Fraction is writing his solo.
/somewhat end SPOILERS

Ah but then you may be asking a sort of obvious question. Wait, since when can the US government demand anything of a super-human...that certainly impends his personal rights >_> without actually having to go through Steve. You know, the leader and "top-cop" of the super-human community...clearance with the president...pretty much has to take responsibility if anyone on the Avengers' teams screws up. Well, Tony is an Avenger, the matter where he got "drunk on the job" took place during an Avengers crisis. I'm pretty sure any "punishment/precautions" implemented have to essentially go through Steve...but yeah...I suppose we have to wait for fanfic to deal with that glaring plot hole. If anything, it's be freaking amusing to assume this is all happening w/o Steve's knowledge and then the new Iron Man shows up in the Avengers and Steve's going D8 "...so you're not Tony?!" XD Let's hope Steve angsts that Tony quit again :DDDDD

Thanks for the summary... ohmygawd... can Fraction just leave already?! The only good thing he did was finally give Pepper armor. GRRRRR!
