Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 6 May 2012

Hello and welcome to the weekly [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman/[community profile] cap_ironman newsletter.

The film is out in many countries now (I've seen it twice!), but still not world wide, so we will be continuing our policy of nuking uncut spoilers. Thank you all for being so good about that so far. This comm is a dream to mod when everyone's so well behaved, and we appreciate it.

If anyone has comments or feedback about how we could make the comm a more welcoming and easier to use place, we'd be glad to hear about it. We don't know there's a problem unless someone lets us know. Please just drop the mod team a PM, or leave a comment here or on the rules post.

Unsurprisingly, The Avengers is doing well. Marvel.com says it's made over 600 million dollar so far, and has broken domestic box office records in the US. Go Avengers! Now that that's out, we're looking at going back to solo movies for a bit, and Comicbook Movies has speculation and cast comments on how that will work given there's now a team. No spoilers.

Newsarama has a nicely detailed history of Cap's costume, and if you scroll do the bottom, you can find links to the same for Iron Man, and a bunch of movie resources showing the links between the film franchise and comics, including more than a few little details that I didn't pick up on.

Comics Should Be Good has a special edition of Comic Book Legends Revealed about the Avengers, which includes weird Scarlet Witch plots from the '80s, hilarous animated Avengers theme tunes, and how the comicbook code changed Steve's origin story.

And it's looking like a good week for our boys in comics. Coming Wednesday is Avengers Assemble #3, Captain America #10, Captain America and...Hawkeye #630, and Hulk Smash Avengers #2.

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments (Now at one hundred and eighty moments). If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. If you're looking for a particular story, why not try [livejournal.com profile] cap_im_finders? If you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me, [livejournal.com profile] garrideb and [livejournal.com profile] valtyr.

And feel free to post on-topic or off-topic stuff in the comments to this post! Just keep it reasonably safe for work, please.

We had some requests for a party post last week, so I'm thinking of doing that tomorrow or Wednesday. Any preference, folks? Either way, keep your eyes open.

I was wondering, if we can have a somewhat weekly comic book post/discussion/squee fest or something that way maybe some members who have lost track or wandered away can help keep tabs on what's been going on. I mean I have no clue what's been happening in Ultimates (1610)...but in Tony's solo he just quit being Ironman again/left the Avengers...and he and Steve did have an argument....which didn't end well....Fraction WHY?! D8 Also in event news, Avengers vs. Xmen...Steve and Tony were having a debate about methods and Tony pretty much telling Steve he wasn't acting like himself and was sounding a lot like Tony was during Civil War. Maybe we can even just have open discussion during the weekly newsletter? Would that work?

Hmm, honestly I used to do what I call a Marvel Comic Round up on my journal, but because I was off an on again...and my friends became busy and life was there it sorta drifted away into nothingness.....and then I got lonely posting on my journal about comics and no one to discuss it with.

So.....yeah....I think I'd love to head a comic round up discussion...or at least cover Tony since I have a limited comic budget and I don't read Cap's book. But hey, it might help those wanting to check out the comics maybe glance at an issue or wait for trade. \0/ Okay I'm pumped! I shall have something posted sometime today or tomorrow.

I want to thank you for continuing to enforce the movie spoilers rule. The movie won't be out for another three months in the country I live in, and it's making wandering around the fandom a little difficult. I can't go to tumblr, for example. Thank you for keeping this com spoiler safe!
