Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 09 January December 2011

Hello and welcome to the weekly [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman/[community profile] cap_ironman newsletter.

Okay. Newsletters are a thing that this comm does. Not so much of late apparently, but your Modly Team of Mods is now starting them up again.

For those not following the news in the past few weeks, a couple of big things have come up. The first is that Jon Favreau won't be direction Iron Man 3. No word yet on who will, but it looks like RDJ will be getting a veto on it. The second thing is Marvel's next Big Event (yeah, I know they promised they were going to lay off those for a while. The cake is a lie) which is to be called Fear Itself, by Matt Fraction and Stuart Immonen. Nice picture of Woobie Steve, anyway, though apparently that is not a clear indication of Marvel's plans for Bucky!Cap (contrary to previous rumours).

Cap seems to be in every comic ever right now. You'd think there was a movie out or something. I'm particularly enjoying the Hydra mini, what are you folks reading Steve in these days? How about Tony?

In comm news, please enjoy the master lists for our very successful Holiday Gift Exchange (thank you so much to all participants! Great effort everyone!), and a rather belated list for last year's Reverse Bang (go check out all the fic and art!).

Finally, if you're a new or recent member, hello and welcome! Our rules are here, and in the profile; this includes our warnings policy, so please read. If you're interested in the ship, you may want to read the Ship Manifesto, and consult the list of Slashy Moments (Now at one hundred and fifty moments). If you're planning to write for the comm, there are some tips on writing the pairing here, and the Avengers in general here; if you're having trouble finding a beta, or would like to offer your services as a beta, our beta list is here. If you're looking for the comm archive, it's Tales of Suspense, and it's automated - you can create an account and upload your fic. If you're looking for a particular story, why not try [livejournal.com profile] cap_im_finders? If you have any questions, you can comment here or PM a mod, that's me, [personal profile] garrideb and [personal profile] valtyr.

And feel free to post on-topic or off-topic stuff in the comments to this post! Just keep it reasonably safe for work, please.

I follow Steve in CA: Man out of Time and Tony in Avengers: Prime. Maybe i should pick up the Hydra mini. Is there anything of Tony good to follow?

I've heard Iron Man: Legacy is pretty good - it's set back in Tony's past.

ZOMG Someone replied before me. ♥ YAY.

I haven't been reading anything. D: My LCS does not accept lint as payment, even if they did carry much worth purchasing. (Dear LCS, when you regularly sell out of things on their release date, that is a sign that you should order more things. Also, stop giving me grief over holding things for me.) I'm deeply looking forward to getting my grubbies on Prime and Children's Crusade, though.

I may or may not have turned one of my younger second cousins on to the Ultimates over the holidays. (rubs hands together) Today, a cousin, tomorrow the world.

I am waiting for Children's Crusade too, as I am getting into YA, and Wanda! Ultimates vol. 1 and 2 are mint, and yay for the plan of conversion.

I've been enjoying the Iron Man/Thor mini, but I'm damned if I can figure out where in the timeline it's happening. Like, it seems to be before Avengers Prime, but there really wasn't enough time between Siege and Prime for Tony and Thor to go off and have shenanigans by themselves. It's all very confusing.
