Extremis Recs Please!

Hey guys! I just got finished watching Ironman: Extremis on Netflix just now and totally forgot how much I enjoy the drama/hurt/comfort potential there. I remember reading a ton of Extremis fics a few years back, but I didn't bookmark anything, and by now I'm sure there's a few more!

Any fics dealing with Extremis are welcome - especially those Tony dealing with Extremis malfunctioning, getting hacked, him getting overwhelmed and lost in the program. Really anything is welcome though!

And yeah, I ship Steve/Tony soooo much, so any fics dealing with THAT as well as what's happening with Extremis is a definite bonus,

Thanks in advance everyone! =)

I'm pretty new to the Marvel fanfic community, but I read this a few days ago and it fits your search.

I'm so glad you posted - I did not know that was on netflix or that it existed :D added it to my queue to check out over the weekend <3

anything else on netflix you recommend? :) (I had read some extremis fics so I'm excited to see more about it! While i was a big comic geek in middle/high school I never read Avengers/Ironman just Xmen related titles as far as Marvel went XD so I feel so behind in the comic verse stuff!)

Two Ultimate Avengers films are on Netflix streaming as well as Young Avengers, a Thor film or two, Planet Hulk, some Iron Man stuff, and I thiiiink Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

What's the best out of those? :) And are the Ultimate ones like the ultimate comics? (I admit my love of angst and think the Ultimate comics sound so dark and angsty XD)

[identity profile] squeeful.livejournal.com 2012-06-28 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
The films aren't as angsty as the comics because, well, that's hard and they're shortish features focusing more on action than character stuff. What's there focuses mostly on Steve. And Bruce Banner. And, well, almost everyone except Tony, which makes me sad. There's some differences, like Natasha has a really bad fake accent and Steve are the evolving couple and Tony has a heart problem rather than the Ultimate brain tumor. Oh, and Hank Pym is a giant (literal and figurative) dick. But there is T'Chala in the second one! And Tony has an amazingly lovely voice.

The Ultimate Avengers (the cartoon) have the same cast from the comics, but are more 'child friendly'. Even so though, I appreciate the fact that they had Jan as Asian, and the relationship between her and Hank as very strained. The cartoons are worth the watch.

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is pretty fun. You will hate the theme song, and then somewhere about episode six you'll start singing along.

Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow doesn't have any of the usual characters -- it's only the kids of the Avengers (Black Widow and Steve made a baby? Huh?) but Tony is there and quite angsty. The world was getting destroyed by Ultron and instead of dying with the Avengers, he hid their children away. He's pretty much old and alone now.

(And just to point out, these are cartoons, so don't expect them to be amazing. The animation is meh for me, but it grows on you.)

Seconding all the recs given.

This is an old fic, but it's not on AO3 and I think it's not well-known: Lethewards (http://therobotmuse.livejournal.com/5516.html) by the robot muse

This is set after the "Dark Reign" arc in the comics (Crazy Norman Osborn has risen to power) and goes very AU from there. Tony basically descends into a breakdown with help from Extremis. It's Tony/Steve, but that's not the main focus. A lot of it is Tony healing himself with help from the cool Iron Man core cast.

I'm probably not selling it well, but I love this story tons and it's one my top for 616!Tony-centric stories.
