Under New Management

Hello everyone!

The results of the mod election is in, and the tally came out as follows:

whizzy 85
kabal42 80
mrhd 54
artemisdiana9 30
1miracle 24

This means that your new mods would like to thank you all for voting and even more for electing us. We will do our very best to live up to your confidence.

We of course also want to say thank you to the resigning mods, [livejournal.com profile] garrideb, [livejournal.com profile] muccamukk and [livejournal.com profile] valtyr for running the community for so long and doing such a great job. None of us would be here if not for you, so thank you. You three are quite the hard act to follow.

We would also like to say a few words about ourselves and tell you what we're thinking of doing with the community. (Don't worry, we're not about to do any huge uproars, and we're obviously still only starting to get into things, so nothing immediate either.)

Hi everyone! First of all, thanks for voting. I'm really surprised and honoured you've chosen me as one of the three mods for the comm. I always loved comics, starting with Spidey when I was 5 or 6 (I can still sing a few words to the old "Spider-man, Spider-man, doing all a spider can" song). I'm trying hard to pass that on to my niece and nephews now. Sadly, I didn't stick with it! Fortunately, my best friend and steady GM in all sorts of tabletop RP ventures is a huge fan and always kept me sort of up to date, I read the odd stuff at his place, so when I dived in the deep end again around a year and a half ago, it wasn't hard. Iron Man movies made me want to do it, but I so stuck around for the comics.

I roleplay online, larp and tabletop, I like some video games, but I'm pretty crap at them to my own amusement (and occasional frustration), I guess I'm pretty geeky like that and quite proud of it, too. I like a lot of fan-loved TV and movies without being fannish about them, because it takes some special extra something for me to go all in, something I never could put my finger on, but my AO3 account reflects where I've found it. I still consider myself at least tangentially part of my other fandoms, too. Love apparently never quite dies ;-)
Speaking of that, I love chocolate, my cat (Cashmere, the fluffy and perpetually shedding), good tea and coffee, all sorts of weird music, art deco furniture, and my flat. The latter (and the cat) is situated in Copenhagen,Denmark.

As for modding here, I hope I can help make things run smoothly. I am not particularly hooked on one or other aspect of modding, so I'm just looking forward to keep this great comm going.

Hi! I'm Morgan, and I want to thank you people for voting for me! I never win anything, so this is pretty great!

I've been part of several difference fandoms during my time here on the internet; and I have written for Harry Potter, Star Trek, and Young Avengers. I've got lots of nerdy fandom interests (see: Whedonverse, Game of Thrones). One of my favourite comic book heroes is Daredevil, but that movie sucked so the fandom is tiny. I'm telling you all of this in case anyone has questions or is looking for someone with those interests too. I have severe social anxiety so I totally understand being afraid to talk to people and ask questions. If any of you feel that way, please feel free to talk to me. If you're too shy to post a question to the comm, you can always PM me and if I don't know the answer I'll find out for you! I know comics can be a scary fandom to newcomers, especially with heroes like Steve and Tony who have been around for so long. If you want recommendations or anything, please feel free to talk to me!

Hey all, and thanks! If you don't know me from various other fandoms,
I tend to sit in my corner and quietly do my own thing. My other
hobbies include: machines that are some combination of large, loud,
and fast; abusing small appliances; and bad words. Oh, and coffee. I
once gutted an old television just to build a computer in it.

Comics were sort of communal family property when I was a kid. (I
still have the one where we took a magic marker and wrote advertising
slogans on Captain Picard's forehead.) Just when I thought I'd gotten
away from the wildly fluctuating writing/art and recursive retcons,
MCU happened. So here I am, right back at it. (And having a great
time, shh!)

My secret headcanon: Steve giving Tony's suit the vintage fighter
treatment, shark face and a pin-up girl.

As mentioned above, we don't intend to change anything right now. We're currently working to get a better view of what needs doing when. It seems we're a little behind last year with regards to the Reverse Big Bang, but then, the Winter Exchange got shifted as well. We still want to run it, so expect something on that soon.

Longer term, we're going to try and streamline the info and rules pages, but so far we're just tossing around ideas and we won't do anything major without warning and giving you all a chance to give input. We all really like the democratic feel of the community and want to keep that spirit going. We plan to also make some changes to the visual side of the comm to make things easier to find – if we can. Minor things for now, and we'll again make sure to solicit feedback.

To finish off we just want to say thanks again and we're really looking forward to doing this job with all of you.

Mrhd, Whizzy and Kabal

"Oh Tony, don't be a prude."

Yay, you all sound fantastic. Thrilled that all three of you are into comics! I love the movies so much, but I don't think they'd have been enough to really get me invested without all the history found in the comics.

And to the previous mods, I've been such a lurker the last couple years that I've probably never said a word to any of you, but thanks so much for all your hard work! You were fantastic guides to me as I was finding my footing in a fandom that was more complex than I'd initially realized! And I've adored some of the stories you've written.

I'm hoping to participate around here more in future. I'd love to have more discussions about Steve & Tony, and maybe I'll even find the time to write some fic of my own to contribute. It's been a long time since I managed that, but I have a ton of ideas.

First of all, welcome new mods!

I'm also a recent-ish comics fan who would love it if new mods gave comics more visibility around here (perhaps by opening more comics party posts, or encouraging new fans to read the comics because of how amazingly developed the Steve/Tony relationship is in them?).

I just get a bit upset over how little there is of comics Steve/Tony in comparison to their MCU counterparts, even though this fandom wouldn't be half as big without their relationship in the comics (616, to be more precise).
