Kia ora folks,

If you know me, it's probably from posting all those cap-im event announcements on Discord as Lore; I've been co-modding the cap-im comm a few months' shy of 3 years.

I honestly can't believe it's been that long, but also sometimes it's felt like decades, especially with all the pandemic time-blurriness.

And now it's time to step down and pass the baton on.

Thanks to everyone who's interacted with the comm - the creators, the cheer leaders and beta readers, the event participants and event mods, the enthusiastic readers and reccers and prompters and lurkers and those who shared our posts or reacted with emoji on our announcements. This comm is still so active because of all of you and your love for Steve and Tony, and it's been a pleasure to facilitate fannish opportunities for you.

Thanks to my current co-mods, [personal profile] navaan who has been a stalwart comm mod for so long and holds a lot of knowledge about the comm's history, and to [personal profile] capneverever who came onboard in June 2020 - her Trivia Quiz idea in particular has been a highlight. Thanks also to Dap and faite who I co-modded with at the start, and all of the event mods I've worked with: Marie, Neb, Ven, Salma, Kait, Jess. Having a solid mod team to rely on makes everything so much better 💜

I've enjoyed opening up our challenges to more work types, expanding our presence on Discord and seeing creators new and old take part in our many events. The Universe Medley Fest taking off has also been heartwarming (apologies for the late "monthly" round-ups, I blame Covid and look forward to being able to draw something from scratch again... sometime in the future).

We've done awesome things together, and I look forward to seeing what the comm does next.
- Lore

We are excited to announce that Neverever ([personal profile] capneverever) has come forward and agreed to join the [community profile] cap_ironman community mod team! The mod team now consists of Lore, Navaan and Neverever.

A long-time member and participant in cap-ironman events, Neverever continues to bring enthusiasm to the community. She has done a fantastic job as an event mod for the Cap-/Iron Man Remix Event year after year, having been instrumental in its conception, and in 2019 she also stepped up and helped mod our Holiday Exchange. This year, she suggested and ran point on the Stony Quiz which took place on our Discord. Thank you very much for all the work you’ve done already and for stepping up to keep this wonderful community going.

We are delighted to welcome Neverever to the team. We're sure that you will be a fantastic addition and we hope that you will have a great time at the helm of the comm with us!

Everyone, please give Neverever a warm welcome!

we want you!

Are you a Steve/Tony fan up for a challenge? Think you have what it takes to help helm the oldest Steve/Tony fan community around? ([community profile] cap_ironman began on Livejournal in 2008).

As [personal profile] faite and [personal profile] dapperanachronism have stepped down as mods, we are now on the lookout for new people to join the team! As opposed to event mods, community mod positions are year-round.

Community mods are responsible for: recruiting, assisting, and acting as event mods; general community policy decisions; community maintenance, updating and communication; background projects (such as the Slashy Moments List); newsletters; and running events such as STONY BINGO, Kinkmeme and Comment Bingo. The role is a long-term time commitment, and a willingness to devote time to the comm on a weekly basis is required.

Clear, responsive communication (we use Discord and email for modly conversations) is essential, as is year-round commitment and availability. Prior modding or equivalent experience is preferred. [community profile] cap_ironman maintains a presence on DW, AO3, Tumblr, LJ, Twitter, Pillowfort and Discord in varying capacities, so experience with multiple platforms is a bonus. We do ask that applicants be over 18 years of age.

If you think you'd make a good comm mod, please email cap.im.mods@gmail.com indicating your interest, abilities, availability and experience. You are welcome to ask questions - direct them to the same email.

We're looking forward to hearing from you!

[personal profile] cap_ironman_mod
Today we are officially announcing that [personal profile] dapperanachronism and [personal profile] faite are stepping down as mods of the [community profile] cap_ironman community.

[personal profile] dapperanachronism joined us as a comm mod in 2017 after already serving as a Big Bang event mod, which she continued to head each year. The work she did on our regular newsletters, the STONY bingos and our big 10th anniversary celebrations deserves a big “thank you” from everyone. We'd like to thank dap for the commitment and love she showered on the community during her time as comm mod.

We'd equally like to express our gratefulness to [personal profile] faite, who came in as mod through our Imzy merge in 2018. She jumped into organizing the anniversaries with us and has served as an event mod on all our annual fests. You can still see her beautiful art in many of our annual fest prizes, and she introduced the art-fic exchange that was held in 2019 for the first time. Her unfailing energy in overhauling the community rules and organization is truly valued.

Thank you so much to both of you for all the hours of work you have put in over the years, for all the fun moments, input and enthusiasm. We are sad to see you go, and want you to know that [community profile] cap_ironman wouldn’t be what it is today without all the work you did behind the scenes. We’re grateful that both of you want to stay involved with the comm in some capacity in the future.

Thank you 💜
Lore & Navaan

P.S. Please also keep your eye out on the comm for our forthcoming call for new community mods. If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you!

As [personal profile] laireshi has announced yesterday, she is stepping down as community moderator of [community profile] cap_ironman. We can’t express our thanks to her enough. As a mod, she put a lot of work, time, and commitment into this community. Her unwavering enthusiasm and energy never failed us! Many of the amazing events here were possible with her contribution, and we'd like to give her a big "thank you," especially for everything she did to keep Reverse Bang, Holiday Exchange, and Rec Weeks running smoothly, for introducing the awesomeness that’s our now regularly run Comment Bingo, and for seeing the craziness that were the anniversary parties through with us! Thank you very much, Laire! Without you, none of it would have been possible and you will be sorely missed!

At the same time we are happy to announce that Lore ([personal profile] lets_call_me_lily) has agreed to join the community mod team, consisting of the remaining mods ([personal profile] dapperanachronism, [personal profile] faite and [personal profile] navaan)! She has brought so much to [community profile] cap_ironman already as a member and participant, has done a wonderful job as an event mod during past Reverse Bangs and Big Bangs — running much of this past RBB as the lead mod. Thank you very much for all the work you’ve done already and for stepping up to keep this wonderful community going. We already know you will do an amazing job!

Please, everyone give her a warm welcome. We hope you’ll enjoy your time at the helm!

Hi there, everyone!

You probably know me as Laire; I’ve been modding this comm for close to three years now. Time flies, though, life moves on, and I’m sad to have to say that it’s time for me to step down. Real life has its own demands, as it happens.

I’d like to thank you all for making this comm what it is, participants, lurkers, everyone who passed by. I’ve had a blast.

I had the best co-mods possible during my time here: Navaan, Faite, Dap, thank you all so much for everything. Running all the events with you had been a pleasure <3 Shout-out to Teyke, with whom I’d only modded for a few months, and runningondreams with whom I modded my first event ever in this comm. Clearly it’d been an amazing experience to make me stay for so much more!

It’s so weird to be saying good bye now, but it’s the right thing for me to do. Still; I’ll miss you.

Also . . . Look at that, it’s 16th June in my time zone already, and that means it’s the 616 day! Keep an eye out: there’s one last surprise coming from the mod team with me on board.

And I suppose I can tease that something amazing is coming this summer to the comm near you!

Laire

With Imzy shutting down, the Imzy-based Steve/Tony Community Bringing Food to the Lab is going to lose its home!

As many of you might know Bringing Food to the Lab was a Steve/Tony community on Imzy where fans could gather and discuss all things pertaining to Steve Rogers and Tony Star. It was developed with a fanfiction-focus, but has evolved into a broader community for all fans that has many things in common with Cap-IronMan - most of all, the love of Steve/Tony!

Nobody wins by losing Steve/Tony fandom spaces, so we are happy to announce that Bringing Food to the Lab will be merging with Cap-IronMan on Dreamwidth and Livejournal! The most prominent aspect of this community were its daily discussion threads. And with this merge, they’ll be bringing these daily discussions to Cap-Ironman starting on June 19th!

To have everything run smoothly now and in the future Bringing Food to the Lab mod [personal profile] faite has kindly stepped up to join our team of Cap-IronMan community mods and will work with her team of mods to bring a dose of daily Steve/Tony joy to our community space.

Stay tuned for more information and fun!

We hope all of our users are looking forward to participating in the discussion posts and will welcome the new users joining us from Imzy! We will shortly prepare an introduction post for all users new to Dreamwidth and are planning a Friending Meme so that everyone can get to know each other.

Please join us as we celebrate the merger and continue our usual fests, challenges and celebration of everything that makes Steve/Tony so great!
[identity profile] teyke.livejournal.com

Hi everyone,

As per last week's post and previous announcements, [livejournal.com profile] runningondreams will be stepping down as community mod. We're sad to see her go, but wish her all the best as she moves on; she's done a huge amount for the comm during her tenure as mod, and we'd like to give her a big thank-you and a round of applause for all her work on the tumblr, the RBB and TRB, and everything else. Thank you, Running!

Our new third community moderator will be [livejournal.com profile] iloome/Laireshi, who has been involved in the cap-im community for a while and previously was an event mod on the RBB. Thank you to Laireshi for stepping up.

Thank you also to those who volunteered for the position of HE mod. Volunteers have been contacted; for everyone else, more info will be available when we start posting kick-off info.

Now that the confirmation vote is over and [livejournal.com profile] navaan and [livejournal.com profile] teyke have been confirmed for another year of modding, it’s time to open up applications for a new third! As opposed to event mods, this is a year-round position.

Community mods are responsible for: recruiting, assisting, and acting as event mods where required; general community policy decisions; community maintenance and communication; background projects (such as the Slashy Moments List); newsletters; occasional acts of diplomatic mediation or fire fighting; and all smaller events such as STONY BINGO. We use tumblr, LJ, gdocs, irc chat, and AO3 as our current main platforms/programs.

Clear, responsive communication (we use email and the chat for modly topics) is essential, as is year-round commitment and availability. Prior modding or equivalent experience is a bonus. We do ask that applicants be over 18 years of age.

If you think you'd make a good comm mod, please email cap.im.mod@gmail.com indicating your interest, abilities, and experience. Questions can also be directed to that email, and you can also check out the Modly Duties and Expectations. Make sure to mark your emails with Comm Mod, since we are also recruiting for Holiday Exchange event mods at this time (interest in both positions is fine!).

This year’s vote will be for [livejournal.com profile] teyke and [livejournal.com profile] navaan only. I ([livejournal.com profile] runningondreams) will be stepping down due to some real life commitments (there’s never enough time for everything we want to do, is there?). Just like last year, this vote is for the question of “should we have a general election?” If the community does not currently want an election, then [livejournal.com profile] teyke and [livejournal.com profile] navaan will carry on for another year (at which point there will be another vote). If the community does want an election, then [livejournal.com profile] teyke, [livejournal.com profile] navaan and anyone else who would like to volunteer will run for the positions. Either way, we will be looking for volunteers for the third general mod position after this vote is done.

The event mods for the Big Bang and Tiny Reverse Bang will continue to run their events until those events end, regardless of the outcome of this vote.

Voting will open on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 12:00 PM PST and close Saturday August 27th around 12:00 PM PST. Only community members will be able to vote, so if you don’t have a livejournal account and want to participate in the vote, you’ll need to sign up for one. Community membership will remain open until Friday, August 19 around 11:00 PM PST, and will re-open after the voting is finished.

Borrowing an explanation of how this works from a previous mod team:
Commenting will be turned off for the voting post, but please email the mods with concerns or questions. It isn't possible to create a truly anonymous LJ poll, but the detailed results will be viewable only by me ([livejournal.com profile] runningondreams), and I will very decidedly not be looking to see who voted which way, nor will I share the information with anyone, including my co-mods. The numerical results will be viewable by everyone.

Well, it’s been a year and it’s time for another community vote! We're very happy with how the system of event mods and general mods has been working, and we hope you all are too! If not, now’s a good time to let us know.

A few weeks ago, a call was put out looking for a few good mods for the community. As of today, the previous mod team of [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman is handing over the reins to an interim team consisting of [livejournal.com profile] runningondreams, [livejournal.com profile] navaan, and [livejournal.com profile] teyke. We would like to thank [livejournal.com profile] whizzy, [livejournal.com profile] mrhd, and [livejournal.com profile] kabal42 for all their hard work over the past two years. During their tenure the comm expanded greatly: the tumblr went from 2000 to 5000 followers, and the number of participants in fests and exchanges grew by leaps and bounds. We would also like to thank [livejournal.com profile] salmastryon and [livejournal.com profile] dragonofmemory, who will continue to assist with chats, discussions, and some behind-the-scenes items.

In addition to the change in personnel, we are implementing changes to the way that events are moderated (described below). In order to give these changes some time to shake out, we will not be holding a community election for moderator positions at this time; instead, we will hold a vote this summer.

The community mods can be reached at cap.im.mod@gmail.com.

New System for Event Modding

Since the increase in activity brought by the MCU, the comm now runs exchanges and challenges almost continuously (and sometimes concurrently) throughout the year. We have many members of the community who would like to help run these events but are unable to commit to year-round modding. In order to lessen the load on the community mods, and allow more people the chance to get involved in running events, we are restructuring how the comm runs events.

For each large event (in particular the Big Bang, the RBB, and the Holiday Exchange), the community mods will recruit and appoint a separate event mod team. This team will be responsible for organizing and moderating all aspects of that event for that year; they will be granted moderator/maintainer status in event-affiliate communities and/or collections, and will be responsible for the cap.im.events@gmail.com email for the duration of the event.

The comm mods will be responsible for ensuring that event mod teams have enough people with sufficient experience and time to make the event a success. Newer volunteer event mods will be teamed up with more experienced volunteers to allow more people the chance to gain that experience. We will also be developing event guidelines based on previous rules & regs and on polls that will be held in the coming month.

This system has been introduced with the 2015 RBB, with event mods [livejournal.com profile] cptshellhead, [livejournal.com profile] vibraniumstark, and [livejournal.com profile] nohaijiachi.

Q&A

Q. Is there going to be a vote about this new system?
A. Not at this time. The only viable alternate solution we currently have for addressing the modding work-load is to add more full-time mods; however, that wouldn't give people opportunities to get involved on a temporary basis and would require more experienced full-time mods than we currently have volunteers. That said, if we run into problems with the new system, we'll consider changes. If you have more ideas for alternative systems, please email us at cap.im.mod@gmail.com. We are happy to discuss other possibilities, but our most important goal right now is to ensure the events and basic functions of the comm continue to be covered.

Q. What events will the community run?
A. The comm will continue to run the same annual events that have already been established: the Reverse Bang, the Big Bang, the Holiday Exchange, and Rec Week. Other events may be added on a one-off or annual basis. If you have ideas, we encourage you to suggest or discuss in the comments below.

Q. Can I be an event mod?
A. Sure! Send an email to cap.im.mod@gmail.com and let us know what event(s) you'd like to help out with. Please include how much experience you have to assist us in balancing the event team with new and old mods.

Q. I want to run an event with my friend. Can we be on a team for the same event?
A. Sure, just let us know that in the email. Depending on the level of experience you have, you may be paired up with additional team-members.

Q. I'm not sure I'd like to run an event, but I'd still like to help out. What can I do?
A. Lots! Smaller items include things like: volunteering with the newsletter, running a discussion, making bingo cards, or submitting items to the tumblr. We also have background items that we could always use another hand with. Send an email to cap.im.mod@gmail.com or speak to a mod on the IRC channel.

Q. An event mod made a decision I don't like. Can I appeal it to the community mods?
A. Event mods are responsible for their event. If an event mod makes a decision about their event that you disagree with, you may appeal to that mod or the event team as a whole. Community mods will not overrule event mods; they may, however, include it in the guidelines for future events.

If you believe that an event or comm mod is behaving inappropriately, and you are not comfortable discussing it with the mod in question, please bring it to the attention of a community mod. Individual mod emails are linked in the sidebar.

Q. The first paragraph says we hit 5000 followers on tumblr. Is there going to be a giveaway for hitting that milestone?
A. We're glad you asked! There is indeed going to be a giveaway soon. Keep an eye on the cap-ironman tumblr for when it goes live!

Q. I have a question/comment/concern/idea that you haven't addressed here.
A. Send us an email at cap.im.mod@gmail.com or discuss in the comments below.

If you have concerns, please do let us know. We want to facilitate smooth and open communication going forward, and increase member engagement in the community events and daily operations. However, tensions in the community have been higher than usual lately, and this is a sensitive topic. If you comment to this post, please take extra care to ensure courtesy towards your fellow community members.

Cap-Ironman wants you!

Are you a Steve/Tony fan?  Do you enjoy their relationship across multiple universes and iterations? Think you have what it takes to helm the oldest Steve/Tony fan community around?  (Cap-Ironman began on Livejournal in 2008, and now maintains a presence on LJ/DW, Ao3, IRC, and tumblr.)

We’re especially seeking mod candidates who can commit the time and energy to running several yearly fic/art fests.  If you’re up to the challenge, please contact us at cap.ironman.fic.exchange@gmail.com!

Hello everyone!

The results of the mod election is in, and the tally came out as follows:

whizzy 85
kabal42 80
mrhd 54
artemisdiana9 30
1miracle 24

This means that your new mods would like to thank you all for voting and even more for electing us. We will do our very best to live up to your confidence.

We of course also want to say thank you to the resigning mods, [livejournal.com profile] garrideb, [livejournal.com profile] muccamukk and [livejournal.com profile] valtyr for running the community for so long and doing such a great job. None of us would be here if not for you, so thank you. You three are quite the hard act to follow.

We would also like to say a few words about ourselves and tell you what we're thinking of doing with the community. (Don't worry, we're not about to do any huge uproars, and we're obviously still only starting to get into things, so nothing immediate either.)

Presentation of the mod team )

Community business, challenges, schedules etc. )

To finish off we just want to say thanks again and we're really looking forward to doing this job with all of you.

The Cap_Ironman Mod Team, as represented by [personal profile] garrideb, [personal profile] valtyr and myself, would like to announce that we're stepping down as moderators of this community.

We took over moderation of [community profile] cap_ironman on LJ in June 2010, when the founders [profile] pandanoai and [personal profile] axolotl_lan stepped down. In September, we started the DW mirror. Since then, we've enjoyed years of relatively trouble-free modding and challenge running (seriously, you guys are awesome!). We've all made friends, created fanworks, and had a wonderful time in this community, which we all still love. We don't plan to stop participating in this fandom any time soon.

However, other responsibilities being what they are, we've decided to hand over the reins/reign to a group with more time and energy to dedicate to Cap_Ironman.

On that note, we're looking for a few brave souls to volunteer to replace us.

A few thoughts on responsibilities:
  • We hope to hand off both the LJ and DW comms at the same time to the same people. If you're thinking of volunteering, you should have an account for both sites.

  • This is more than a one-person job, especially if they'd like to continue running challenges. We're hoping two or three people will take over. "Works Well With Others" is key.

  • Though it's a pretty trouble free comm, things like tagging and checking headers does take some time out of the day. Please don't over commit.

  • Experience modding is nice, but honestly none of us had any when we started. Hello, learning curve!

Last time around, the only people who volunteered agreed to work as a team. This time, we'll either set up a team, or get whoever volunteers to talk it out amongst themselves. If several groups really, really want to take over, we can run a member poll to elect a new team. In any case, the new mod team will be subject to comm approval by either referendum or election.

If you are interested in becoming part of the new mod team, please PM me in the next ten days (so by 29 January).

On a personal note, I'm also trying to hand off maintenance of the Slashy Moments List, including image hosting. If you're interested in that (related or unrelated to modding), please PM me. FOUND!

Pandanoai and Axolotl_lan have been 'removed' ALL HAIL MODLY MODOK!
Though I heard there were emergency protocals in place to call up Avengers moderating team locator programs for emergencies I will just need to find and destroy it.
AHA! Searching the Avengers reserve moderator team program to protect the love of Captain America and Tony Stark appears to have three names emblazoned above all others.
Watch out Muccamukk, Valtyr and Garrideb.
I will use this comm to take over the interwebs and then the world!!!
[identity profile] axolotl-lan.livejournal.com
So I know we proposed a vote - however with only two applicants presently who are both amenable to co-modding we will instead do one day of grace.

Unless there are serious critical objections (i.e. valid reasoning beyond flamethrowing) or anyone else who planned to pm us *and by us I mean me at this point* for the moderator position then we will be making the transfer of modly duties to Muccamukk and Garrideb by Friday,

Thank you all and we hope you will be as supportive of the next mod team! ^_^
[identity profile] axolotl-lan.livejournal.com
Due to a number of RL circumstances, Panda and Myself find that we cannot mod this community adequately.
We would like all members interested in Mod position to pm us. We will put all the applicable candidates to a community voting by the end of the week. We hope that this transition can go as smoothly as possible.
Thank you all for the time we've been here as mods.

Panda and Lan
