AvX meta/reaction post with scans
I recently finished reading Avengers vs. X-Men, and instead of writing a long rant I decided to pick out my ten favorite things and highlight those with scans and commentary. My number one favorite thing was the Steve & Tony interaction, unsurprisingly, so I've got a dozen scans of them being BFFs. Also relevant to this community is my fifth favorite thing: Tony's terribly unoriginal suicidal plan to save his friends.
It's here on DreamWidth and here on LiveJournal.

You were right to avoid the cage fights.
Some of the art is very pretty (though not normally the way the characters are drawn) and there is occasional good dialogue. However, this does not excuse such things a polar bear in Antarctica (or are we supposed to believe Wolvie detoured to the Arctic just to pick up a skin so he could do a Empire call out), or excusing people acting OOC by saying "You're acting like me," as Tony does in the panel you scanned and as other people do elsewhere. Then there is the complete (and illogical) retcon of the entire Phoenix history.... *sigh*.

Was it supposed to be the antarctic? I just assumed it must be the arctic what with the polar bear...yeesh. That's the kind of thing you'd hope writers and editorial would catch! The OOCness was very frustrating, especially with Cap. I don't actually know the Phoenix history, but I'm not surprised to hear that they screwed it up. The whole thing seemed poorly planned and stretched into a convoluted, meandering mess.
I will forever love AvX #0, though!
