This is a summary of what happens in Avengers volume 1, with what, in my opinion, are the best storylines. I’ll add the bonus SteveTony elements if there are any (indicated with * to *** for the amount of SteveTony-ess)! Between the issues to read I will put a brief summary of what happened to understand the story better (they are between parenthesis and in italics).

PART 1: 001 - 221 is here

A quick recap from the past issues: the current Avengers are She-Hulk, Hawkeye, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Wasp who is the leader. Of the main past Avengers, Wanda and Vision are married and living happily ever after somewhere, Pietro is with Crystal and their daughter, Yellowjacket is in prison because of a misunderstanding, and in general he has been discharged from the Avengers because he hit Janet and he tried to attack the Avengers. Janet and Hank divorced. Scott Lang, now Ant-Man, is working for Tony Stark. Only Cap, Thor and Tigra know Tony is Iron Man.

Original Sin is the Marvel comics event beginning in May.  It's being described as CSI: Spandex meets Marvel's Civil War meets SHIELD's public exposure in the MCU (imagine a pair of cosmic VCR eyeballs instead of a file blasted online).

Not joking about the eyeballs.

The second rule of Marvel comic events is: Even the most decent superheroes turn into superassholes when convenient for the plot.  (The first rule of course is that superheroes punching each other sells more comics than superheroes working together to punch supervillains.)  Original Sin is not going to be an easy story to dive into without some background info, since its intent is to unearth the ugly little secrets our favorite heroes have been hiding in their closets.

5 Things You Need to Know to Read Marvel's Original Sin

But what does all this have to do with Steve Rogers and Tony Stark in particular?  I'm glad you asked.

If the words Illuminati and mindwipe don't make you cringe, here's a summary of the whole sordid mess.  Original Sin promises to break the hidden issues between Steve and Tony wide open and presumably put them at each other's throats.  (Only one will be left standing at the end, yet again, etc.)

It looks like the book we'll really, really want is Avengers #29.  (Beware spoilers, feels, and lots of shirtless Steve.)

I recently finished reading Avengers vs. X-Men, and instead of writing a long rant I decided to pick out my ten favorite things and highlight those with scans and commentary. My number one favorite thing was the Steve & Tony interaction, unsurprisingly, so I've got a dozen scans of them being BFFs. Also relevant to this community is my fifth favorite thing: Tony's terribly unoriginal suicidal plan to save his friends.

It's here on DreamWidth and here on LiveJournal.

Interested in reading up on your favorite Avengers, but unsure where to start? There are official DVD libraries of back issues and Marvel Digital Unlimited on offer, but what to read? Don't want to sit through five issues of Cap hallucinating for no particularly good reason? Now there's an issue by issue online guide for that!

I've just updated The Avengers for The Iron Man / Captain America and Ficcing Fans with a page on The Avengers Vol. 1 - The 90's, so the guide now covers every single issue from the January 1990 issue of The Avengers vol. 1 through Civil War. There's specific information on the Captain America / Iron Man content of each issue, and also information on other fan-favorite Avengers characters and plot.

Never pick up a back issue looking for character moments, only to find that Cap is off sulking and Iron Man is in a different book California ever again!

Special thanks to mosellegreen, who hosts my fannish website.

Note: Currently these only include the actual comic book title Avengers / New Avengers. No spin offs, minis, or non 616 universes have been reviewed at this time. A Captain America comics guide is also available, covering every issue of Captain America from Heroes Reborn through Civil War.

Last time...
Short recap: Tiberius Stone returned, Tony gave him way too many second (and third, and fourth) chances, turns out Ty killed his own parents to... not sure, be more like Tony? The scans this time are mainly from from Vol3 #56-#58.

Prepare for image heavyness, semi-NSFW (non-graphic nudity) and crazy Dreamvision scapes. Also Rumiko because I like her

I made an illustrated summary of the first Tiberius Stone arc in Iron Man, and thought it might be relevant to the community's interests, due to the... somewhat subtexty vibes. If that was a misjudgment on my part, feel free to let me know/delete it. :') If not, I'd be interested in hearing your opinions. (Also if you think there are tags I could add?)

Scans are from 2001 vol. 3 (hopefully got that right). Those who follow my tumblr account will have seen the first three ages ago, but the rest are new. Not mine though, I just clipped and made stupid commentary.

Gets image heavy and spoilery after this point

Interested in reading up on your favorite Avengers, but unsure where to start? There are official DVD libraries of back issues and Marvel Digital Unlimited on offer, but what to read? Don't want to sit through five issues of Cap hallucinating for no particularly good reason? Now there's an online guide for that! Well, two.

The Avengers for The Iron Man / Captain America Fan is now fully updated and covers every single issue from Heroes Reborn in the mid-90's through Civil War for both general plot and Cap and Iron Man content!

Also, for all your Cap backstory need, it is joined by the brand shiny new Captain America Comics for the Ficcing Fan, helping you figure out which characters make a major appearance in an issue, and plots and things of fannish interest it might contain. This guide covers every issue of Captain America from Heroes Reborn through Civil War.

Never pick up a back issue looking for slashy moments, only to find that Cap is off sulking and Iron Man is in a different book California ever again!

Note: Currently these only include the actual comic book titles Captain America and Avengers / New Avengers. No spin offs, minis, or non 616 universes have been reviewed at this time.

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elspethdixon and [livejournal.com profile] seanchai, who loaned me some of their comic book library, so I could finish this monster.

We've had a couple requests for recommended reading of late, and at some point I'm totally going to get organised enough to actually write up a compilation off everyone's suggestions and link it from the side bar. However, for the moment, I'd like to suggest two things that seem absolutely tailor-made for our comm.

The first from the middle of the Civil War arc from a few years back, "Iron Man/Captain America: Casualties of War" by Christos Gage.Spoilers )

If you can't track down the floppy, it's reprinted in the Civil War: Casualties of War, and The Invincible Iron Man: Civil War (which also has "The Confession" in it). The whole thing is Slashy Moment #35.

I've been going on about my second rec in the newsletter for a bit now, but I finally laid hands on it this week, and it is a shiny, shiny thing. I'm not sure what the international availability is (I've heard early June for the UK), but you can now get Iron Man/Captain America in most US and Canadian comicbook stores. Spoilers )

I wholeheartedly rec both of them both as overviews of Steve/Tony and as leads on where to start looking at expanding your canon knowledge. If you've already read it all, it's still nice to have it in the one place.

Hey everyone! Thank you for all the kind words toward my recaps. Back by popular demand and a more relaxed schedule, I present the most recent two issues of Iron Man. In March, I will have more free time so the last issue of the arc and the following issues will get to you more timely.

Remember the rules, keep the discussions here because I can't reply to you on blog spot and try to keep the Fraction hate to a minimum. But you can rip apart Larroca all you want to :D

Without further delay...

Sorry for the delay, kids. Holiday Hell delayed my recapping this week. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Particularly with this issue... let's keep the comments focused on the recap and productive discussion rather than Fraction hate, please. :D

That said... Spoilery link behind the cut. )

This is one of my all-time favorite comics ever, very full of Steve/Tony, but as I mention it in passing to people, I realize it's not all that well known. So, stop me if you've heard this one.

actually don't, sit down and listen to it again. )

So here you are, all caught up on The Invincible Iron Man. I'll see y'all next month with the thirteen recap. Until then, enjoy 12

So the 11 issue had a lot to say, I decided it was smarter to post it separate from 12, which releases on Wednesday. Expect 12's recap Wednesday night or Thursday sometime. Until then, enjoy the recap of 11.

For now enjoy.
