Writing resources - romance and non-sexual intimacy

So [livejournal.com profile] salmastryon linked me to a series of posts about non-sexual intimacies in chat a few weeks back and I thought I'd share both that link and some others I found with the comm.  Each of the blogs here also offers advice on a ton of other writing topics.

The Wordsmith's Forge - Nonsexual Intimacies (Part 1 of 5) by [livejournal.com profile] ysabetwordsmith - the original post [livejournal.com profile] salmastryon gave me. This series of posts is on both lj and dreamwidth, and the comments are worth checking out for both. A lot of these can be done with no romantic hint whatsoever - it's all about trust and boundaries.

Using the 12 Stages of Intimacy to Build Tension - focuses on hetero build-up for romance novels, but useful for writing any progressive romance, or even just conveying different levels of intimacy without romance.

Writing believable romance (part 1)  by [livejournal.com profile] limyaael - This writer  has many many many useful posts, most geared toward original fantasy writing, but completely applicable to fanfic. Search the tags for more topics, including pointers on minor characters and dealing with tropes. Some of my other favorites to use as reminders to myself include: Rant on friendships, Designated Love Interest rant, Unequal relationships rant, Angst vs. Tragedy and Rant on fleshing out secondary and tertiary characters.  I haven't checked out the new GreatestJournal blog yet, so there may be more there.

Clevergirlhelps on tumblr - that link goes to the archive of posts. There are several romance-related posts under Topics R-W. Some of my favorites include First Impressions: Love Interests and Obsessive Lovers (because Tony especially qualifies sometimes). Under other topics: Traits from Living with Substance Abusers, Friendship IS Magic and Heroic Traits and Their Faults.

I also follow fuckyeahcharacterdevelopment, characterandwritinghelp, howtofightwrite, thewritingcafe and fixyourwritinghabits on tumblr for general writing tips, tricks and inspirations, if anyone is looking for something like that.

Enjoy!

Thank you!

I share that article all the time. It is such a great resource.

That makes me happy! I wrote it because there was just NOTHING on that topic that did what I needed. There are some other topics I'd love to do that for but it's a lot harder for me to fund nonfiction than creative writing. I usually do it for things I really need. So I'm glad people are getting a lot of use out of this. I have some favorite resources that are my go-to things to recommend too.

Oh, this will be helpful with my BB. Thank you!

(The deleted comment is mine, because clearly I can't comment on a post and I replied to the above comment instead >.> )
