IIRC, Clint was in two, but they were really short.

There are, however, shots of Budapest.

James Spader's voice is fantastic and the end shot of Ultron with his ominous quote is wonderfully creepy.

The quick cuts are frustrating but they do the job of hyping up the tension.

I'm trying to figure out who the female in the blue dress is standing next to Thor when Ultron crushes the broken suit's head - it doesn't look like Jane and it's not Maria because she's on the other side of the room I think. Any ideas?

Like the Hulk/Natasha moment when they touch fingertips but the broken shield breaks my heart!

I want more of the team speaking to each other and interacting - the only ones to speak were Ultron, Natasha and Tony if I remember rightly.

Poor Bruce, I just want to cuddle him.

I wonder what Steve's flashback at 1:31 is about? He's in a crowded dance hall in the 40s in his army uniform(?) by the look of it. Maybe it's tied in with Bucky somehow?

I am a huge Nat/Bruce shipper, so I am just gleefully ignoring all the anger directed at that on tumblr today and crying about Bruce, man.

I was thinking it might be Wanda, but it's too early in the movie, and it doesn't look like Darcy, either. Could it be Bobbi? She has brown hair in at least one episode of AoS.

Oh, other possibilities:
--Sif?
--Kim Soo Hyun is reported to have a fairly large role as a scientist helping Tony. (I'm still keeping fingers crossed it may be Ru). It could be her.

I had heard about the broken shield but I'm starting to suspect that is that that is not Steve's shield but a prop shield belonging to a civilian or a decoration of some sort, and a typical Marvel fakeout.

from what I've heard, Wanda opens a gate because they need something from Peggy. Hayley Atwell is confirmed in the film, as younger Peggy.

Why is there anger at Bruce/Natasha?

It could be a prop shield although Thor lying motionless next to it is a bit disturbing. Marvel do like their fake outs though.

OMG, that spoiler is ace! Clever ol' Marvel tying it up with their other planned output.

[identity profile] teaberryblue.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah I totally didn't even NOTICE Thor, man, I have to watch it again.

Okay, revising my speculation: it's a potential future that Wanda shows Tony.

Mostly, I think breaking the shield is one of those things you can only do ONCE in the series and have it be effective, so it's the kind of thing I'd hope they'd wait on, though since there's speculation that Andy Serkis is playing Klaw and that means T'challa might show up, maybe breaking the shield is how we introduce Black Panther? I'm not sure how much I trust that speculation, though.

Anger at Bruce/Natasha is stemming from a lot of people feeling like it reduces Natasha to a romantic interest, mostly on the basis of the fact that Whedon has repeatedly stated that Hulk is his favorite Avenger and he wants to have Hulk feature more in this film since they'r departing from the Hulk movies that got made. So the thinking is that Whedon is shoving the most significant female character into a relationship because it's what he wants for Bruce. I feel like there's enough in Avengers to establish the possibility (the scene in India, the "we could use a little worse" line), but I know a lot of people don't see it at all, or are holding out for a ship with someone she's got an established more significant relationship with, like Clint or Steve, or they want to see her in a relationship with Bucky as in the comics, so they're disappointed.

I get it on a certain level: I know a lot of the fic for the ship is either creepy and Stockholmy, or completely ignores the chase on the helicarrier, and is often a pair the spares ship, so I think people in fandom are coming to it with that at the back of their minds. I really didn't like the ship until I actually started writing it, so I do understand why people have a strong reaction to it-- I literally wrote it to see if there was any way I could make it feel plausible to me, or if it was a lost cause. I pretty much fell in love with it, but I can see why other people might not have the same response.

An alternate or possible future would be a good fake out too.

I remember when the escalator pre-kiss still from CA:TWS was released and there was rumblings about a Steve/Natasha romance but they took the bromance route instead (which was awesome) so it could be the same with Nat/Bruce.

I've never read any Nat/Bruce but I can see the possibilities.

[identity profile] teaberryblue.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
The Bruce/Natasha thing seems a little bit more like it's actually happening: Ruffalo and Johansson have both confirmed separately that each of their characters have a romantic plot with *someone* in this film. I don't know how far they take that plot, whether they actually get together, or there's just romantic interest shown, but all the spoilers I've read seem to imply at very least the latter.

I read a leak of the first ten minutes of the film that says explicitly that they are dancing around each other and Bruce is afraid to get involved with her because of what the Hulk did on the helicarrier

(Also, go look at that cap in the Tower again-- Natasha's hand is on Bruce's shoulder there, as well)

[identity profile] brushed-velvet.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh interesting! They seem like a couple in the group when Ultron first appears (I love what Nat's wearing btw)

Given the previous films it does seem a bit out of left field to possibly develop a romance between them but if so, hopefully it won't be forced or shoehorned in for the sake of it.

That's one advantage of being a slash shipper though, I can just continue to ignore the canon romances quite merrily (having said that I ship Steve with just about everyone). :D

[identity profile] teaberryblue.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm happy with my own personal headcanon for them getting together, but it took 80k of fic to get there, so it's unlikely that the film will go that far, haha.

I just kind of ship a whole mess of things. I also ship Sam and Natasha, and yes, Steve with about six different people, and and and... My only serious OTP I will not go back on for any reason is Carol/Rhodey.

Also because it completely erases an established, important, dynamic woman with an existing relationship with Bruce. Forgetting Betty is something fandom does a lot.

[identity profile] teaberryblue.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what's funny? I have never heard anyone complain about the lack of Betty as a problem with the ship until now. I suspect part of that is that there are a lot of mixed feelings about carrying anything (including Betty) over from the previous film, which is a shame, but I think so many people are so eager to pretend the Norton-led film never happened that that means pretending Betty isn't part of the MCU continuity, too. Which says something about female characters being tied to their male counterparts in a way that leaves something to be desired.

[identity profile] brushed-velvet.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Sif is taller? I think you could be right and it's a new character like the scientist.

Oh, those are excellent theories for that woman's identity! Fascinating :D

Yep, I'm going with Kim Soo Hyun.

I've been at work and stuff and just got to see it now. And I LOVED IT! The voice-over and the cuts totally work for me. Maybe I'm a sucker, but it looks good to me. The feeling that there's a red thread, a full story, not the patchwork I was worried about, it strong here. It's actually given me hope for this movie!

And looking around it's a bit like i'm alone... so. uh. Anyone else like it...?

[identity profile] teaberryblue.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
No! I loved it!

I think you, watching it late, got the second wave responses. The early responses were all positive. Then you got the people who started asking questions about it and poking holes in it, and the people who watched it a few times and came away with legit criticism. Then you got some people who were just looking for reasons to hate it. I think we're starting to get another wave of people who like it again.

[identity profile] kabal42.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! That made me feel a lot better <3 You're probably right about the waves. And of course there are things to criticise, I mean, that's legitimate of course. (Also taste varies which is also fair.) Looking forward to that next wave of excitement then :)

Also stumbled across a hilarious post on my tumblr feed with someone observing that (me paraphrasing here:) "OMG new trailer - I can't wait to hate everything about it and reblog everything from it anyway" was apparently a common response. That made me laugh ;)

Aw. I'm sorry. Having something hyped before seeing it is bad - especially because it can never quite live up to it. Being "whelmed" sounds quite familiar, actually.

Oh god, the music. Of all the fantastic and creepy ways for Marvel to use their link with Disney.

[identity profile] winterstar95.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Disney owns Marvel and the song is from Pinochico

[identity profile] kabal42.livejournal.com 2014-10-24 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
This! OMG the music...!

[identity profile] winterstar95.livejournal.com 2014-10-23 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved the trailer overall. I wanted MORE though. I think someone said they wanted more interaction between team members (that's what I wanted too) but we will get that later when the more intense trailers come out.

Oh and the scene where people are yelling at something (it is early on right after the scene of people racing around cars) it looks like they are angry not scared. I wonder if this is toward the end of the film.

I wonder if this is the aftermath, people angry at the Avengers blaming the superheroes for the devastation of Ultron leading Tony to agree that something has to be done to stop incidences like this and so we have a perfect set up for the start of Civil War in Cap3

[identity profile] teaberryblue.livejournal.com 2014-10-24 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking it's either that, or it's Wanda showing them a possible future that foreshadows Civil War

[identity profile] winterstar95.livejournal.com 2014-10-24 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
I looked at it again and the two people in the front are Wanda and Pietro...so I'm not sure now.

For some reason, I thought Cap's shield was buried under dirt, not broken. It flashes by so quickly, it's hard to tell, but the shield's survived this much, it doesn't seem like it would snap so easily. And keep in mind this is "teaser trailer" whatever the hell that means to movie execs these days. Those tend to be more fragmented and disjointed than "trailer trailers."
