About the new (Secret Wars) Marvel announcement

Under cut for Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers spoilers and the next main event (Secret Wars).

I was just wondering if anyone else is worried? Or if this is just a clever way to dismantel the Ultimate universe? (I've never read Ultimate!verse so I am not sure what's going on there).
This is the link of Marvel's announcemente LINK and basically "they are dissolving the Ultimate Universe into the main 616 Marvel continuity. Details are scarce, but so far we know that there is the equivalent of a major continuity alteration underway after the big Secret Wars event. Secret Wars #1 ships in May, while what is presumed to be the last issue of Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man is likely April’s #12"
and
"It’s been the super secret plan of the Marvel staff for more than five years." (So in my hopeful little soul I still hope it's a way to undo Civil War somehow). "“This puts an endcap to decades of stories and starts a new era. When you see the scope of the event and what we’re willing to do [you’ll be amazed][.According to Alonso this isn’t necessarily part of anything to do with the MCU, which is developing its own continuity. “It all starts on the page. We tell our own stories, this is exactly what we’re doing here. You’ll be shocked for this.”"

It's not just the writers, either - I don't trust the editors, and that is a major issue when they keep having these massive events spanning the whole 616 universe one after the other (and now not just the 616 universe, either). You get a situation where characterization is inconsistent not just from one run to the next but between titles coming out simultaneously, because each writer just does their own thing without any regard for the character OR for what the other writers are trying to do. So your events are a patchwork mess and no one can figure out what a character's motivations are from one comic or event to the next - this has been a particular issue with Tony since Civil War. I've reached the point where I'm just checking in every so often to see if things have gotten better yet and inevitably I keep being like, "ugh, still screwing the Avengers over for cheap drama" and I check back out. Sigh.
