Fic Summary: Prince Antoine (call me 'Tony'), Stark of Stark, is too busy being a playboy to care for the people of his kingdom. Estelle, 'just a girl from the Broken Lands', doesn't put up with bullies, even if they do wear a crown. With the help of her pet ferret, Bucky, and a man named Bearskin, she shows Tony the error of his ways.

Art is embedded in the story, and hosted on the writer's photo host. Teaberryblue isn't going to make an AO3 post for the art, but might make a tumblr post for the art. If so, I will add a permalink, when I have one.

AO3 is a lot easier for me than LJ. You wouldn't believe how long it took me to write up this one post (I kept trying it on private on my journal to see where I'd messed up. Coding is not my strong suit. :^)

But the next time I have a Stony of sufficient length to be worth the effort, I'll try to remember to post here. :^)

Aww, that's too bad. But if there's something long enough you think it's worth it, I hope you will anyway! :D

(I had to laugh at this comment when I first read it because I have the exact opposite problem - AO3 hates my formatting and always tries to muck with it, whereas in LJ, although the fancy stuff sometimes borks, at least the basic stuff always works for me!)

I used to have problems with AO3 doing weird formatting (particularly with spacing between paragraphs) & then I realized it was because I was using Word & Word was doing something evil and invisible that only showed up after I posted to AO3.

I switched to just using a simple text program, and everything works fine for me that way.

Yeah, I use Word, and I know that's likely part of the issue. But... I really like Word! It's how I've been writing for the past forever, and I just don't want to change it (the thought makes me go 'but what if it kills my writing mojo?!'). Oh, well.

Before I gave up on Word I found that I could copy/paste the fic from Word to a simple text program, set it to save it as 'plain text', then copy the plain text and paste it into AO3.

That seemed to have cut out the weirdness, but then I thought- I don't use anything in Word beyond what's in the simple text, so why not cut out the middleman?

If you use Word's features, naturally you don't want to give them up.
