Rec Week Day 4: Wiley Wednesday!

Wiley Wednesday by xanehawk

Banner by xanehawk.

On our fourth day of rec week we’re asking you for all your favorite fanworks dealing with secret identities and above all identity porn. Because we’re dealing with the classic masked heroes here and we all know we love the trope! ;)

Note: Please mark major warnings for your recs, and if you have time, let us know why you’re reccing it!

At the end of the week, we'll create a giant masterlist of all the recs that were posted for everyone's reading and viewing enjoyment! Until then you can still jump into all the rec posts and leave your recs.

Schedule and Links to the previous posts:
Smutty Sunday, July 12th: Smut / PWP
Brand-new Monday, July 13th: Firsts (kisses, dates, times, etc)
(Not So) Terrible Tuesday, July 14th: Hurt/Comfort
Wiley Wednesday, July 15th: Identity / Identity Porn
Mournful Thursday, July 16th: Dark / Angst
Funny Friday, July 17th: Humour / Fluff
Wacky Saturday, July 18th: Free day!

For all new to rec week you can find out more at our first post of the week.

This year we have three ways to share recs:

1) comment on the daily livejournal post (this one here!)
2) reply to the daily tumblr post
3) post to tumblr with the tags #capimrecweek2015 and the day of the week (#wileywednesday for today)

Have fun!

Marvel Adventures: Avengers

Engaging the Enemy (http://archiveofourown.org/works/148861) by tsukinofaerii, 22,823 words.
Everyone has read this one, but you should read it again. You know this one. It's the AU where Iron Man is evil and keeps kidnapping Steve as a form of courtship -- and no one knows who Iron Man really is.

MCU

Even the Light Is an Illusion (http://archiveofourown.org/works/507292) by Mizzy, 102,373 words.
I would class this as identity porn even though the trope involved is really Fake Character Death, because Tony rejoins the Avengers after his own fake death under a secret identity. I would also call this a 616 story because the team involved is basically early New Avengers (I forget every time I read it that this isn't a NA story) and the villains (the U-Foes! Zeke Stane!) are pure 616. This is one of my favorite long stories in the fandom; the dialogue is great, all the characters are excellent, I love the UST (and the way Steve and Tony relate to each other is just perfect; I love how assertive Steve is here), and the tortured angst of carrying on after Tony's "death" and and and... it's all so lovely. Eeee. One of my favorite stories for the pairing.

I (created from fantasies) exist solely for you (http://archiveofourown.org/works/565273) by Mizzy, 62,917 words.
You have probably read this. An AU where Steve, also Captain America, is undercover at Tony's comic book company -- and no one knows he's Iron Man. And as Steve and Tony fall for each other, so do Cap and Iron Man. This has one of the best identity-reveals in all of identity porn; the kiss is amaaaaaaazing. I repeat, amazing.

Prisoner's Dilemma (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1113925) by AvocadoLove, 15,696 words.
An AU where Steve wakes up from the ice a prisoner of Obadiah Stane, and Tony's the guy in the next cell. They can't see each other, and Steve doesn't know he's in the future, and Tony doesn't realize he's imprisoned with Captain America. I really enjoy watching them bond in this one.

Noir

Look here, look back, look ahead (http://archiveofourown.org/works/160223) by marinarusalka, 33,498 words.
Reverse identity porn! Steve was one of Tony's Marvels artists before Rebirth, and now Tony's on a mission with Captain America, who might be keeping a few secrets from Tony. If you like Noir at all, you have probably read this -- but if you haven't, do so without delay. It is amazing action/adventure with a lovely emotional arc, and one of my favorite Steve/Tony fics, period.

Marvels! Presents The Iron Man in: The Case of the Stolen Elixir (http://archiveofourown.org/works/3448628) by teaberryblue, 33,165 words.
A Noir/3490 fusion where Iron Man and Iron Man's employer Annie Stark might have more in common than Steve knows about. Mmmm. This is a great action/adventure fic that brings Extremis into Noir, and I really enjoy the 1939 World's Fair setting.

of superheroes & swan kings: a rousing tale of action and adventure as only marvels can deliver! (http://archiveofourown.org/works/3127490) by thyrza, 4173 words.
Another Noir/3490 fusion -- actually, the original Noir/3490 fusion -- this is, yes, Steve adventuring all through the war with Natasha Stark, and of course neither of them know who the other is beyond their secret identities. Yesss. This is lovely.
